Lady Tigers taking threematch streak into region tournament

The Ringgold Lady Tigers finished the Region 6-AAA regular season portion of their schedule with a 25-13, 25-22 victory over visiting Coahulla Creek last Monday night.

Cady Helton and Brooke Baldwin tied for team-high honors with six kills each. Helton added four digs, two aces and one assist, while Baldwin also had four digs, three assists and one ace.

Alayna Custer dished out 13 assists to go with eight digs and two kills. Meredith Fowler had seven digs, three aces and a pair of kills. Destiny Cavin had 15 digs and three kills, and Allison Wolfe-Driver picked up three kills and a dig.

Also contributi­ng in the victory was Erin Harvey (two digs), Genna Pease (one kill) and Tiffany Cavin (one dig).

The Blue-and-White traveled to Dalton a day later and swept a best-of-five match at Christian Heritage, 26-24, 25-21 and 25-20.

Custer had a big night with 24 digs and 15 assists to go with one kill. Fowler finished with 15 digs. Baldwin picked up 14 digs and added five assists, one ace, one kill and one block, while Helton hammered home 10 kills to go with 13 digs and one ace.

Destiny Cavin had five kills, eight digs, three blocks and a pair of aces. Wolfe-Driver collected three kills, two aces, two digs and one block. Harvey recorded seven digs, an ace and an assist, while three kills from Pease and two blocks from Tiffany Cavin rounded out the stats.

Ringgold closed out the regular season on Thursday with a Senior Night victory over Dade County, sweeping the Lady Wolverines, 25-22 and 25-23.

Fowler had 17 digs, three kills and an assist in the win. Destiny Cavin added 10 kills, five digs and a block, while Wolfe-Driver put down two kills to go with an ace and a dig.

Custer collected 21 assists and five digs. Helton had 14 digs, three kills and one assist. Baldwin finished with six kills, six digs, one ace and one block. Tiffany Cavin had three digs and Harvey added one dig.

The Region 6-AAA tournament is set to begin on Thursday of this week with the top four seeds hosting in the first round before things shift to LaFayette on Saturday.

As of press time, there were still three region matches left to be played on Monday of this week that will affect the seeding for the tournament. Ringgold (15-13) entered this is week projected as the tournament’s No. 4 seed.
