Saddle Ridge starts new season with first victory

The Saddle Ridge Lady Mustangs jumped out to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter and collected their first victory of the season with a 44-20 victory at Rossville last Monday.

Macee Casteel scored eight of her gamehigh 18 points in the first quarter and added three rebounds in the win. Lanie Hamilton, Jacey Wiggins and Maddie Underwood had seven points apiece for the Navy-and-Red, while Lexi Underwood added three points.

Adasia Binford and Ava Fowler scored five points each for the Lady Bulldogs. Kiara Williams picked up four points, while Briannah Carson and JaShayla Aaron had three each in the season debut.

Saddle Ridge 16, Rossville 8 (JV)

In the JV game, the Lady Mustangs got seven points from Erin Grant in a 16-8 victory. Kayona Pierce added five points and Sophia Alexander finished with four.

Individual scoring for Rossville’s JV team had not been provided as of press time.

Ringgold 14, Lakeview 13 (JV)

The Lady Tigers got balanced scoring in a victory at Lakeview last Monday.

Gracelee Thorton led the way for Ringgold with four points, followed by Jillian Eaker with three. Ariana Battle, Rylee Hiple and Gracie Austin had two apiece, while Gracie Narramore finished with one.

Abigail Rifenberic­k had four points for the Lady Warriors. Madelyn Samples recorded three points, while Montana Noblitt, Avayh Langston and Anna Medley scored two apiece.

Chattanoog­a Valley 16, Heritage 11 (JV)

The Lady Eagles won their season opener last Monday. Kailynn Bailey had a teamhigh eight points and 10 rebounds for CVMS, while Sha Elliott scored six points and collected five steals.

Also contributi­ng in the win was Madi Simpson (two points, three steals, two assists), Bryleigh Tate (one assist), Sara Rosenbloom (two steals) and Lilly Landis (two rebounds).

Individual statistics for the Lady Generals had not been reported as of press time.

Heritage 37, Chattanoog­a Valley 34

Last Tuesday’s varsity contest was a battle that saw the Lady Generals get two key fourth-quarter offensive rebounds and putbacks by Georgia Gracy and Chloe Fowler en route to a win in the season-opener for both schools.

The buckets by Gracy and Fowler were their only points of the game. Gracy finished with three points and Fowler added two. Kellie Boehm scored 11 of her 13 in the second half, nine coming on three 3-pointers.

Bailee Hollis went for 11 points, followed by Addi Dills with five and Ema Tanner with three.

JaMiah Lewis led all scorers with 17 points for the Lady Eagles and added seven rebounds, four steals and four assists. Ava Mariakis recorded six points, five rebounds and two steals. Georgia Mae Anderson had four points to go with a dozen boards. Zoey Fleming collected two points and five rebounds. Madi Simpson finished with three points and Lexi Delaney had two points and one rebound.

Gordon Lee 55, Dade 19

In Trenton last Tuesday, Camdyn Carter poured in 20 points and Abby Logan had 14 in the rout. Kyleigh Custer picked up 10 points and Riley Mull scored four.

Gordon Lee 41, Dade 1 (JV)

Laney Wilson had 14 points for the Lady Trojans, Molly Corvin added 12 and Marley Stone picked up six in last Monday’s easy win.

Ringgold 51, Lakeview 5

Jersey Rae Loy set the pace for the Lady Tigers with 14 points in last Tuesday’s opener. Keeley Mountjoy dropped in nine points, followed by Braylee Raby with eight and Tori Epps with seven.

The rest of the scoring included six from Eryn Epps, three from Mattox Hollingswo­rth, and two apiece from Ariana Battle and Albany Jett.

Maddison Gaines had three points for the Lady Warriors, while Lizet Jimenez added two.

LaFayette 27, Trion 11

Emma House was the top scorer for the Lady Ramblers last Tuesday with 10 points in their first game of the 2021-22 season.

Christian Heritage 23, Ringgold 22 (JV)

The Lady Tigers fell one point short in a tough battle with the Lady Lions this past Wednesday.

Thorton had 10 points and Austin went for eight. Katy Haddock added three points, while Kate Edgar chipped in with one.

Heritage 46, Lakeview 9

Boehm drained four 3-pointers and had a game-high 18 points for the Lady Generals (2-0) in Thursday’s road win. Dills finished with nine points and Hollis dropped in eight.

The rest of the scoring included four points from Gracy and two each by Tanner, Fowler, Addyson Morrison, and Bailey Walling.

Hope Alexander had seven points for the Lady Warriors (0-2) and Bryleigh Gray added two.

Ringgold 53, Rossville 12

The Lady Tigers ran their record to 2-0 with a victory at Rossville on Thursday night.

Raby had 13 points and Eryn Epps poured in 12 in the win. Hollingswo­rth finished with seven points, followed by Mountjoy with six and Loy with five. Alayna Yarger had four points, while Jett, Battle and Tori Epps all had two points.
