The LFO Warriors, ranked No. 10 in the preseason by Sandysspiel.com, showed that they will be a team to contend with this season after starting out 3-0 at the Chattanooga Christian Thanksgiving Tournament last week.

Although last Monday’s final margin of victory ended up being a comfortable 33 points, it was far from comfortable for the Warriors early on as the Redand-White found themselves trailing at halftime.

LFO bolted out to a 20-9 lead in the first quarter, only to see the Eagles counter with a 14-2 run to take a 23-22 lead midway through the second quarter. They extended their advantage to six points later in the period before racing to the locker room with a 39-35 lead. Collegedale connected on seven 3-pointers in the first half.

But the third quarter would be a much different story.

The Warriors found another gear after the break and outscored the Eagles 3710 in the third quarter alone. Jamichael Davis and Brent Bowman combined for 31 of those points. Davis went for 17 in the period and Bowman scored 14.

LFO went on to outscore Collegedale 17-7 in the fourth. Two of the points came on an alley-oop slam from Davis off a steal assist by Amari Burnett, and the Warriors led by as many as 36 in the fourth quarter before emptying the bench with a little less than four minutes to play.

Davis finished with 31 points, followed by Bowman with 30. Jamillion Womble added six, Cameron Lay finished with five and Burnett scored four. LFO finished with 10 3-pointers as a team.

The Warriors made it two in a row after beating a good Chargers team on their own home court last Tuesday.

LFO led 32-19 at the break and held an 11-point lead going into the fourth quarter. CCS made a late run, but it was not enough to prevent a Warrior victory.

Davis dropped in 18 first-half points on his way to a game-high 27 for the Red-and-White. Keenan Walker had nine points on three 3-pointers and Burnett finished with six points.

Five points each from Bowman and Jackson Flanagan, along with two points from Womble, rounded out the scoring.

LFO 67, Boyd-Buchanan 50

The Warriors capped their tournament with another solid victory this past Wednesday, leading 19-10 after the first quarter of play before extending their lead throughout the rest of the contest.

Davis connected on four 3-pointers and finished with 39 points. The junior blistered the nets for an average of 33.2 points per night in his three tournament games.

Bowman had a pair of threes and finished with 18 points, matching his average for the week. Flanagan scored four points, while Burnett, Bryce Brock and Alex Slatton all finished with two points each.

LFO was slated to host Heritage on Tuesday of this week.
