Wrestlers finish up preThanksg­iving schedule

The Ringgold Tigers, along with four other visiting teams, spent last Tuesday morning and afternoon in Chickamaug­a as they joined the Trojans for the six-team Gordon Lee Duals.

Each team wrestled three opponents on the afternoon.

The host Trojans went 1-2 on the day, defeating Gordon Central (54-30), but losing to Chattanoog­a Christian (48-36) and Murray County (51-30).

Landon Brown (113 pounds) and Penn Askew (145) each went 3-0 on the day, while Avery Bloodworth (152) and Timy Duke (195) were both 2-1.

Meanwhile, the Tigers also finished 1-2. They also scored a 54-30 win over Gordon Central, but lost matches to Murray County (42-41) and Southeast Whitfield (51-26).

Tristen Busch went 3-0 for Ringgold with three pins, splitting his time at both 138 and 145. Pierce Pennington (113) went 3-0 with a pin. Nolan Rohrer (126) went 3-0 with a pin, a technical fall and a major decision, while Jaxon Delgado had a major decision at 152 and a pair of pins at 160.

Zane Rohrer (120), Hudson Moss (132/138) and Brentlee Raby (285) each won two matches by pin. Elijah Tipton (170) picked up a victory by pin against Murray County, while Lathan Spencer (132) and Dylan Bandy (195) were both awarded forfeit victories against Gordon Central.

Gordon Lee was slated to host Heritage and Signal Mountain on Tuesday of this week for a tri-match, while next up for Ringgold will be a home dual with LFO on Thursday.

LaFayette, Ridgeland competes at Trion Duals

The Ramblers and Panthers traveled south to Trion on Wednesday for the Trion Thanksgivi­ng Duals and each finished the day with a 1-3 mark.

LaFayette (3-6 overall on the year) lost to Bob Jones (Ala.) (68-11), Southeast Whitfield (43-27), and Trion (72-6), but picked up a 5430 victory against Trion’s “B” team.

Scoring victories against the “B” Bulldogs were Eli Hudson (106 pounds), Malachi Miller (120), Lake Prater (126) and Jacob Brown (195), all by forfeit. Spencer Chadwick (145), Jonah Neal (152), Ethan Gilbert (170) and Ben Foley (220) all won by pin.

Hudson (106) and Caleb Zwiger (182) picked up pins against Southeast Whitfield. Brown (195) won a decision, while Chadwick (145)

and Neal (152) both won by forfeit.

Gabe Warren (138) and Zwiger (182) scored pins against Bob Jones, and Shelby Hall (113) earned a forfeit against Trion’s varsity team.

Ridgeland also suffered tough losses to Bob Jones (69-3) and Trion (63-3), but dropped a close 4239 decision to Southeast and took down Trion’s “B” squad, 48-30.

Hunter Barber went 3-1 for the Panthers at 113, while Aiden Barber (126) was 2-1. Chris Hunter (106), Malachi Hutchinson (152), Jaleel Choice (160), Austin Gravitt (170) and Elijah O’Shields (182) all went 2-2 with Hailey Gordy (132)

finishing 1-1.

Ridgeland will host LaFayette and Gordon Lee in the annual Walker County Cup this Thursday, starting at 4 p.m.

Heritage places seventh in Valdosta

The Heritage Generals finished seventh out of 16 teams in the Grapple on the Gridiron Duals Tournament in Valdosta this past Tuesday.

Facing some larger schools, Heritage defeated Toombs County (6021), Morgan County (48-36), and

Jones County (51-29), but fell to tournament runner-up Lowndes (58-21) and Colquitt County (52-30).

Individual­ly, Tate Thomas (106/113 pounds) went 5-0 with five pins on the day, while Skylar Grant (170) went 5-0 with three pins.

Victor Johnson (132) and Evan Wingrove (160) were each 4-1 with four wins by pin. Andrew Moore (126) went 3-1 with three pins. Mike Stokes (152) was 3-2 with three pins, while Andy Garcia (106/113) was 3-2 with one pin.

Drew Dietz (138) finished 2-3, winning both by pin, while Dagon

Posten (120), Nolan Caylor (182/195) and Braeden Oliver (285) all went 2-3 with one pin.

Conner Pennington (126) and Mason Day (145) both picked up one win pin, while Conner McGinnis (182/195) and Tanner Kirby (195/220) also wrestled for the Generals.

In the individual junior varsity tournament, Cayman Hughey (152) and Dax Akers (160) won championsh­ips after going 4-0 in their weight classes. Caden Simpson (120) went 3-1 and placed third. Cameron Blankenshi­p (126) was 1-2 and Logan Beasley (152) went 1-1.
