Heritage girls go 2-1 at Ridgeland

The Heritage Lady Generals outscored Coahulla Creek 17-7 in the third quarter and hung on for a 54-52 victory last Monday afternoon at the Ridgeland Thanksgivi­ng Classic.

Freshman Macie Collins was 7 of 12 at the free throw line and finished with 14 points for Heritage, who picked up its first victory of the season.

Gracie Murray finished with 11 points, while Lauren Mock and Riley Kokinda had eight points apiece. Seven points from Kortney McKenzie and six from Aaliyah Rodgers finished out the scoring.

Heritage girls 48, Dade County 34

The Lady Generals (2-1) concluded their part in the Classic this past Wednesday by taking down the Lady Wolverines. Heritage trailed by three after the first eight minutes, but forged a 20-18 lead at the break before pulling away in the second half.

Mock scored 11 points, while Murray and Brooke Matherly had 10 each. Rodgers went for eight and Kokinda added six, while two from Collins and one from McKeznie rounded out the scoring column.

Coahulla Creek boys 53, Heritage 39

The Generals saw their offense bog down in the second and third quarters last Monday as they lost for the first time this season.

Heritage led 14-10 after one quarter, but were outscored 27-11 over the next two periods as the Colts enjoyed as much as a 20-point lead in the second half.

Ty Loveless had 12 points for Heritage. Bryce Travillian picked up seven points, while J.D. Black and Kaleb Biddle added six points apiece. Four points from Kaleb Gallman and two each by Carson Green and Ryan Heet rounded out the scoring.

East Ridge boys 52, Heritage 48

The Pioneers made 8 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter and held off the Generals on the final day of the Classic on Wednesday.

Heritage (1-2) took a 27-24 lead at halftime and maintained the three-point advantage to start the fourth quarter, but were unable to finish off the victory.

Gallman had 15 points on five 3-pointers. Loveless added nine points, while Travillian and Collin Swearingin scored five points apiece.

Four points from Heet, three each from Biddle and J.C. Armour, and two apiece from Green and Kaden Swope capped the night for the Generals, who were slated to join the Lady Generals for a doublehead­er at LFO on Tuesday of this week.
