Ringgold girls down Heritage to take over top spot in NGAC

A showdown between the last two unbeaten girls’ teams in the NGAC went the way of the home team last Tuesday afternoon as Ringgold used a huge third quarter to get past Heritage, 49-36.

The Lady Tigers held a 20-14 lead at halftime, but outscored the Lady Generals 23-5 in the third period. Alayna Yarger scored all 16 of her points in the third stanza to help the Lady Tigers build their lead.

Kellie Boehm tried to bring Heritage back as she drained four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as the Blueand-White took the victory.

Braylee Raby finished with 15 points for the Lady Tigers. Tori Epps had nine points. Jersey Rae Loy scored three, while Mattox Hollingswo­rth, Keeley Mountjoy and Eryn Epps each scored two.

Boehm finished with 17 points. Addi Dills and Ema Tanner had seven apiece, followed by Bailee Hollis with three and Georgia Gracey with two.

RINGGOLD 51, DADE 14

Mountjoy had 10 points and Loy added nine as the Lady Tigers improved to 8-0 on the season with a big victory in Trenton on Thursday.

Yarger and Eryn Epps scored eight points apiece as Ringgold allowed just six points after the first quarter. Raby finished with six points, followed by Albany Jett with four, while the duo of Hollingswo­rth and Tori Epps dropped in three apiece.

RINGGOLD 17, HERITAGE 13 (JV)

In a tight battle that came down to the final few possession­s, the Lady Tigers stayed unbeaten against league foes.

Gracie Austin led the way with six points for Ringgold, followed by Mya Tate with four, Jillian Eaker with three, and Gracelee Thorton and Katy Haddock with two apiece.

Individual scoring for Heritage had not been reported as of press time.

RINGGOLD 27, DADE 4 (JV)

The junior varsity Lady Tigers cruised to a win over Dade on Wednesday.

Austin had a team-high 10 points. Haddock, Kate Edgar and Grace Evans poured in four points apiece. Thorton added three and Eaker finished with two as they improved to 7-1 on the season and 7-0 in the NGAC.

HERITAGE 37, LAFAYETTE 24

Thursday’s opener saw the Lady Generals go to 6-1 behind 15 points and four steals from Dills and 10 points and five boards from Gracey.

Chloe Fowler had four points and five rebounds. Hollis added four points and three assists. Boehm finished with two points and eight rebounds, while Tanner grabbed three boards to go with her two points.

LaFayette got seven points from Emma Parker, six from Hannah Phillips, four from Zoey Smith, three from Harley Perkins and two each from Emma House and Emily Maanum.

LAKEVIEW 24, LAFAYETTE 22

The Lady Warriors picked up their second victory of the season with a narrow victory at LaFayette last Tuesday.

A tight game throughout, Lakeview led 2013 going into the fourth quarter, but had to hold on for the victory.

Hope Alexander had 12 points for Lakeview. Mia Valdes scored six, followed by Piper Brown with four and Rebekah Howe with two.

Balanced scoring for the Lady Ramblers (1-7) resulted in five points each from Phillips, Parker, Smith and Olivia Durham, while House chipped in with two.

LAKEVIEW 22, ROSSVILLE 4

The Lady Warriors made it two straight victories with a home victory on Thursday.

Alexander and Bryleigh Gray led the way for

Lakeview (3-4) with six points apiece. Brylee Pritchett finished with four, while Howe, Valdes and Aubrey Medrano had two points apiece.

Ava Fowler scored two points for the Lady Bulldogs, while Briannah Carson and Kiara Williams each chipped in with one.

LAKEVIEW 39, LAFAYETTE 8 (JV)

The junior varsity Lady Warriors got 15 points from Ayvah Langston and eight from Abigail Rifenberic­k in a victory over LaFayette last Monday.

Mallory Spatafore, Anna Medley and Ally Burke each scored four points for Lakeview, while Montana Noblitt and Madelyn Samples had two points each.

Cambree White had five points for the Lady Ramblers and Terra Southerlan­d scored three.

CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 39, ROSSVILLE 14

JaMiah Lewis had a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double and added seven steals and five blocks for the Lady Eagles last Tuesday. Leah Johnson scored six points and added six boards, while Lexi Delaney had five points.

Ava Mariakis had a solid night with five points, seven steals and seven assists. Trinity Silmon picked up three points and four rebounds. Zoey Fleming and Bralie Blevins had five boards apiece and Rachel Lukens grabbed two boards and recorded one steal.

Carson had eight points and two rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs (1-6), while Williams, Ansleigh Brunk and JaShayla Aaron each scored two points.

CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 34, TRION 19

CVMS improved to 6-1 after winning at home Thursday.

Lewis came up with a triple-double, this time with 11 points, 11 steals and 11 rebounds. Mariakis added nine points. Blevins recorded eight points and six rebounds, while Delaney and Silmon each scored two.

CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 31, ROSSVILLE 16 (JV)

Madi Simpson had 12 points, six rebounds, six steals and a pair of assists as the junior varsity Lady Eagles posted a victory over Rossville last Monday.

Kailynn Bailey scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Alaina Shaver had three points to go with seven rebounds and five steals. Sha Elliott scored just two points, but also contribute­d with three rebounds, two assists and eight steals, while Kyleigh Graham, Sara Rosenbloom and Haydie Cheli had two points each.

Individual scoring for the Lady Bulldogs had not been provided as of press time.

CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 36, TRION 19 (JV)

Simpson had another big night with 13 points, six steals and five assists as the JV team moved to 6-1. Shaver filled up the stat sheet with seven points, seven steals, five boards and three assists, and Sha Elliott collected six points, five steals and five rebounds.

Bailey added six points, but had a big night on the boards with 11 caroms. Graham and Sky Cochran each scored two points with Graham pulling down two rebounds.

GORDON LEE 60, TRION 32

Abby Logan had 16 points for the Navyand-White in last Tuesday’s game at Trion. Camdyn Carter and Laney Wilson both had 12 points. Riley Mull scored nine points. Molly Corvin and Molly Ellis each had four, while two apiece from Whitney Blaylock and Kynleigh Custer rounded out the scoring.

SADDLE RIDGE 35, DADE 23

The Lady Mustangs went up by 10 points at halftime before going on to the victory at home last Tuesday.

Macee Casteel battled her way to 20 points, eight rebounds, two steals and a block. Lanie Hamilton added 11 points to go with four

steals and a rebound. Maddie Underwood had four points and four rebounds. Tamra Yancy added three boards and a block, while Jacey Wiggins and Mary Alice Ertz collected two steals apiece.

GORDON LEE 41, SADDLE RIDGE 20

The home team improved to 6-1 on the year after winning a physical contest in Chickamaug­a on Thursday.

Logan had a team-high 12 points for Gordon Lee. Kyleigh Custer added nine with Mull and Ellis adding six apiece. Marley Stone finished with four, while the trio of Carter, Wilson and Kynleigh Custer had two each.

Casteel had five rebounds and led all scorers with 15 points for Saddle Ridge (4-3). Wiggins scored three points and came up with two steals, while Elliott Rogers had two points to round out the scoring.

Also getting on the stat sheet was Yancy (two rebounds, one steal, one block), Hamilton (one rebounds, one steal), Ertz (one steal) and Maggie Bowers (one rebound).

GORDON LEE 46, SADDLE RIDGE 10 (JV)

Thursday’s earlier game saw three players score in double figures as the Lady Trojans’ junior varsity squad remained unbeaten at 7-0.

Corvin had 12 points with Hynleigh Harding and Whitney Blaylock adding 10 points each. Ally Ross went for six points, followed by Mackayla Martin with four. Brenley Burnette and Anaston Cordell chipped in with two apiece.

Saddle Ridge got four each from Erin Grant and Ella Eppley and two from Kristine Ellis.

SADDLE RIDGE 11, DADE 3 (JV)

Last Monday, the Lady Mustangs junior varsity team (3-4) headed to Trenton and scored a win in a defensive contest. Saddle Ridge allowed Dade all three of its points in the opening stanza and shut them down the rest of the way.

On offense, Grant and Kayona Pierce each had four points. Cayley Worley added two and Ellis capped the scoring with one.
