Girls’ teams fight for tournament seeding

JaMiah Lewis recorded a triple-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks, while adding seven steals and five assists, as Chattanoog­a Valley picked up a 45-14 win over Saddle Ridge last Monday. Ava Mariakis just missed her own doubledoub­le as she finished with 14 points and eight assists to go with four boards.

Trinity Silmon scored four points. Georgia Mae Anderson had two points, six steals and five blocks. Bralie Blevins chipped in with two points and three blocks. Leah Johnson capped the scoring with two points, and Lexi Delaney cleaned the glass for five rebounds.

Macee Casteel and Lanie Hamilton tied for team-high honors with four points each for Saddle Ridge. Casteel added two rebounds, while Hamilton had one rebound. Elliott Rogers connected once from behind the arc for three points and grabbed one board.

Maddie Underwood dropped in two points and pulled down three rebounds. Lexi Underwood added a point, a rebound and a steal, while Jacey Wiggins, Kennedy Hays and Tamra Yancy all recorded one rebound apiece.

OAKWOOD 32, BEREAN 14

The Oakwood Christian Academy Middle School girls’ basketball team earned its first win of the season last Monday with a victory at Chattanoog­a’s Berean Academy.

Chloe Brodie, Emma Dickson, Carly Tankersley and Ruby Foster each chipped in with six points in the victory. Audrey Galloway added four, while Noelle Sullivan and Addison Debord scored two apiece for the Lady Eagles.

OAKWOOD 20, OLPH 12

The Lady Eagles moved to 2-1 on the season following a home win last Tuesday night.

Brodie led the way with eight points, followed by Galloway and Dickson with four, while Sullivan and Felicity Goff Harris each scored two. Dickson and Samantha Harris also pulled down eight rebounds apiece.

RINGGOLD 47, GORDON LEE 30

Two second- quarter 3-pointers by Mattox Hollingswo­rth gave the Lady Tigers an eight-point halftime cushion and the Blue-andWhite went on to pick up a win last Tuesday afternoon.

Up 21-13 at the break, Ringgold got its offense on track in the second half. They put up 26 points over the last two quarters, including 16 in the third, while holding the Lady Trojans to just 17 points in the second half.

Hollingswo­rth finished with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Jersey Rae Loy scored seven, while the trio of Eryn Epps, Albany Jett and Braylee Raby poured in six points apiece.

Four points from Tori Epps and two by Alayna Yarger rounded out the scoring for the home team.

Gordon Lee got 11 points from Camdyn Carter, eight from Abby Logan, six from Kyleigh Custer and five from Riley Mull.

LAKEVIEW 31, TRION 8

The Lady Warriors evened their overall record with a victory last Tuesday’s opener.

Bryleigh Gray paced Lakeview with nine points, followed by Hope Alexander with eight and Maddison Gaines with six. Ayvah Langston and Mia Valdes had four apiece to round out the scoring.

HERITAGE 47, DADE 13

Last Tuesday also saw the Lady Generals roll behind 15 points from Bailee Hollis and 12 from Kellie Boehm. Ema Tanner had eight points, followed by Georgia Gracy with seven and Addi Dills with five.

LAKEVIEW 22, SADDLE RIDGE 17

On Wednesday, the Lakeview girls climbed over the .500 mark for the season with a victory over the Lady Mustangs.

Lakeview (5-4) got 12 points from Alexander as the Red-and-White won their fourth consecutiv­e game after hitting some free throws down the stretch. Piper Brown scored four points, while Gaines, Gray and Lizet Jimenez each scored two.

Saddle Ridge (4-5) got 10 points and four rebounds from Casteel. Lexi Underwood had four points, three steals and a pair of rebounds. Wiggins scored two points and collected two steals, while Maddie Underwood had two rebounds to go with her one point. Rogers and Maggie Bowers earned praise from their coach for their defensive efforts.

RINGGOLD 33, CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 27

The Lady Tigers got their toughest challenge of the season Thursday night in Flintstone, but were able to hold off the Lady Eagles to collect their third consecutiv­e NGAC regular season league title.

Tori Epps had a dozen points for the Lady Tigers (10-0). Raby scored seven points, followed by Eryn Epps with six, Yarger with five, and Jett and Hollingswo­rth with two apiece.

Ringgold will be the No. 1 seed for the NGAC tournament at the end of January.

Chattanoog­a Valley (7-2) got 11 points and five assists from Mariakis. Silmon scored six points. Anderson added four points to go with eight boards and three blocks. Lewis had 10 rebounds and five steals to go with her three points, while Blevins added three points, seven boards and three blocks.

The Lady Eagles’ two losses this season have come by a combined nine points.

GORDON LEE 32, HERITAGE 29

The Navy-and-White picked up an important home win in a hard-fought game on Thursday.

Logan had eight points, while Kyleigh Custer and Laney Wilson both scored seven for Gordon Lee (7-2). Carter added four points, while Molly Ellis and Kynleigh Custer each chipped

in with three.

Individual scoring for the Lady Generals (7-2) had not been provided as of press time.

DADE 31, LAFAYETTE 30

The Lady Wolverines (1-7 in league play) edged out the Lady Ramblers in Thursday’s opener. Emma Parker scored 13 points for LaFayette (2-8). Emma House added seven points and Hannah Phillips scored six.

SADDLE RIDGE 22, CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 21 (JV)

A huge defensive fourth quarter by the Lady Mustangs allowed them to battle back from a seven-point finalperio­d deficit and score a victory in Flintstone last Monday.

Caylie Harrell scored seven of her nine points in that final quarter. Kaitlyn Ellis added four, while Erin Grant and Elliott Rogers each dropped in three. The rest of the scoring featured two by Kayona Pierce and one from Ella Eppley.

Sha Elliott had eight points, five steals and three rebounds for the Lady Eagles. Madi Simpson scored six and pulled down four boards. Maddi Champagne added four points and two rebounds, while Kailynn Bailey grabbed eight boards to go with her three points.

GORDON LEE 36, RINGGOLD 16 (JV)

The Lady Trojans allowed just four points in each quarter and went on to a victory last Monday.

Molly Corvin had 16 points for Gordon Lee, followed by Mull with seven and Hynleigh Harding with six. The rest of the scoring included three from Whitney Blaylock and two apiece from Maddie Langston and Mackayla Martin.

Jillian Eaker paced the Lady Tigers with five points. Grace Evans added four. Gracelee Thorton, Gracie Austin and Mya Tate each dropped in two, while Gracie Narramore chipped in with one.

LAKEVIEW 32, SADDLE RIDGE 14 (JV)

The Lady Warriors squad picked up a victory on Wednesday. Individual scoring for Lakeview had not been

provided as of press time.

The Lady Mustangs got five points from Grant, two each by Caylie, Eppley, Sophia Alexander and Morgan Thomas, while Kaylee Moore scored one.

RINGGOLD 23, CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 14 (JV)

The Lady Tigers secured the No. 2 seed for the NGAC JV tournament with a home win on Thursday.

Thorton had 11 points in the win. Eaker finished with six points, while Tate, Evans and Rylee Hiple all added two apiece.

Alaina Simpson scored six points for CVMS, followed Bailey with four and Madi Simpson with two.

GORDON LEE 22, HERITAGE 10 (JV)

The Lady Trojans got seven points from Martin and six each from Blaylock and Ally Ross in a win over Heritage that gave them an undefeated regular season.

Harding had two points and Corvin had one as Gordon Lee earned the top seed for the JV tournament.

Abby Wilson, Bree Roberts, Paisley Collins, Molly O’Brien and Paityn Weldon each had two points for Heritage.
