The 2021 Catoosa-Walker County Football Dream Teams
Coming off a big junior season, much was expected from Kori Dumas this past fall and the Ringgold senior more than delivered when his number was called.
One of the stars of a Tiger offense that put up over 36 points a game, Dumas accounted for more than half of Ringgold’s rushing yards every Friday night. Today, the Region 6-AAA Offensive Player of the Year adds the title of Catoosa County Offensive Player of the Year to his list of accomplishments.
Blessed with both power and speed, Dumas ranked first in the region in rushing yards (1,376) and in yards-per-game (114.7), while finishing
Ever since he burst onto the scene as a sophomore, opposing defenses have had to keep one eye open at all times for LaFayette’s Jaylon Ramsey, and many times both eyes.
After two years of piling up numbers and awards as a quarterback, Ramsey stepped into a new role as the Ramblers’ featured running back in his senior season and the unselfish speedster turned in another all-star caliber performance.
The 2019 Walker County Offensive Football Player of the Year adds that title to his resume for the second time today after rolling up 1,002 yards and 12 TD’s on 184 carries this past fall. He also collected 187 yards and second in 6-AAA in rushing attempts (179). He also had 16 total touchdowns (13 rushing), which put him second in the region in touchdowns and scoring (96 points).
He finished the year with 1,637 all-purpose yards, including a 184yard, four-touchdown performance against Murray County in which he only played the first half and had just eight carries.
While he was a standout on offense, he was also a solid linebacker for the Blue-and-White with 26 tackles, including four for a loss. He broke up four passes, returned a fumble for a touchdown and scored another TD off his only interception of the year.
one score on 22 receptions and threw for 91 more yards.
Among his senior year highlights were a 25-carry, 210-yard, threetouchdown night against Murray County and a 26-carry, 172-yard, two-TD night against Coahulla Creek. He finished with 178 all-purpose yards and one score against a stout Ringgold defense, ran for 100 against Sonoraville and had 98 on the ground in a game against stingy Rockmart.
In three seasons with the varsity Ramblers, Ramsey amassed 3,422 rushing yards and just shy of over 5,000 all-purpose yards, accounted for 51 touchdowns, and was a three-time All-Region first team pick in 6-AAA.
For the past four seasons, the Ringgold defense has had a constant in defensive back Kyle White.
The senior finished his Tiger career with over 400 total hits and enjoyed a stellar final year in which he was named the Region 6-AAA Defensive Player of the Year. Today, he is also being named as the Catoosa County Defensive Player of the Year.
In 12 starts, White had 107 solo tackles, the most of any defender in Region 6-AAA. He was second in assists with 62 and led the region in total tackles (169) and tackles per game
(14.08), while leading Ringgold in tackles
Lane White came into his senior year at LaFayette looking to make the most of his final football season as a Rambler, both as a leader on the field and in the locker room.
And that’s exactly what he did.
Despite giving up sometimes more than 100 pounds to the opposing offensive linemen he went up against, the defensive line fireplug finished the year with 52.5 tackles and was second in all of Region 6-AAA in tackles-for-loss (14) and sacks
(8). He also added two pass break-ups, four quarterback pressures, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. in eight of its games this season.
He had a season-high 23 stops against Rockmart to go with 22 against Thomson and 21 in a road win over North Murray. He anchored a defense that was tops in the region with only 234.1 yards and 12.1 points allowed per game.
In addition to being a tackling machine, White broke up five passes this past fall with one interception, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also wrote his name in Ringgold lore with an enormous fumbleforcing hit against Hart County with 1:45 to play that helped seal the Tigers’ first state playoff win in eight seasons.
One of the cornerstones of LaFayette’s retooled and reenergized defense, White is this year’s Walker County Defensive Player of the Year.
His senior year highlights included a pair of sacks against both Coahulla Creek and Sonoraville, three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks against LFO, and seven tackles, two assists and a fumble recovery against Ringgold.
His play helped LaFayette give up just over 19 points a game as the Ramblers were third in 6-AAA in rushing defense (134.6 yards), passing defense (129.0 yards) and total defense (263.6).
