Lady Trojans finish as tournament runners-up

The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans picked up two solid victories to begin the Chick-fil-A Christmas Tournament in Chickamauga last week, but had to settle for the runnerup trophy after falling in the title game.

GORDON LEE 44, HIXSON 13

The Navy-and-White opened the tournament last Tuesday night by romping past the Lady Wildcats. Gordon Lee scored the first 12 points of the game and led 18-6 after the first period.

After a low-scoring second quarter, Gordon Lee outscored the Lady Wildcats 17-1 in the third to take a comfortable 39-9 advantage into the final eight minutes.

Macy Sharp and Emma Phillips scored eight points each for Gordon Lee. Emma McGraw went for seven points. Tenslee Wilson, Gracie Helton, Riley Shirley and Kaitlyn Wagoner all had four points. Charlsie McElhaney scored three and Dallas Wagoner rounded out the night with two.

GORDON LEE 37, GILMER 32

The Lady Trojans moved on to the finals after a hard-fought win over the Lady Bobcats on Wednesday night.

Gordon Lee led 11-6 after a very low-scoring first half, but got some breathing room with a 16-point third-quarter that boosted the lead to 11.

Gilmer answered with its own 16-point outburst in the fourth, but it was too little too late as the Lady Trojans were able to hang on for the victory.

McGraw scored 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Phillips sparked the second-half offense by scoring all 10 of her points over the final two periods of play.

Kaitlyn Wagoner added five points, followed by four from Wilson and two by Shirley.

HERITAGE 50, GORDON LEE 21

The Lady Trojans saw a five-game winning streak come to an end on Thursday night as they fell behind 21-5 after one quarter of play and never recovered.

Phillips had 10 points and was only player in double figures for Gordon Lee (8-6). McGraw and McElhaney each scored three points. Sharp and Shirley dropped in two apiece, and Wilson rounded out the scoring with one.
