Golf action heats up as area tournament­s approach

A 2-over-par 38 by low medalist Andrew Amor helped give the Gordon Lee Trojans a five-shot win over Coahulla Creek in a nine-hole match at the LaFayette Golf Course last Tuesday.

Ayden Cordell posted a 40, followed by a 45 from Sam Carswell and a 46 from Zane Blaylock as Gordon Lee ended the day with a team score of 169.

Tanner Maynor (48), Jack Lowry (50) James Eldridge (52) and Cooper Jacks (54) also played for the Trojans.

Sykler Winningham carded a 39 for the Colts (174), while Caden Daniel (61) set the pace for Trion (249).

RIDGELAND BOYS WIN AT BROWN ACRES

The Panthers got a 43 from Ben LaMontagne as they posted a 205-217 victory over LFO in a nine-hole match at Brown Acres Golf Club in Chattanoog­a last Tuesday.

Ben Birchfield carded a 53 for Ridgeland, while the Panthers’ other scores included a 54 from Jacob Klein, a 55 from Josh Litts, and a 60 from Parker Metcalf.

Ashton Hinnard led the Warriors with a 48, followed by a 53 from Levi Harwell, a 57 from Nate Carter, a 59 from Jake Seay, and a 60 from Jonathan Parkhill.

LAFAYETTE BOYS WIN AT MCLEMORE

The McLemore Golf Club hosted LaFayette, Gordon Lee and Ringgold’s boys’ teams on Thursday and it was the Ramblers holding off the Trojans for a twoshot victory, while the Tigers finished third.

LaFayette shot 177 in the nine-hole match, paced by a 40 from Grant Langford. Brady Mullaly shot a 42, followed by Jackson Brewster with a 47 and Junior Barber with a 48. Shane Johnston (53) and Braden Queen (55) also played for the Ramblers.

Gordon Lee (179) got a 41 from Cordell, a 44 from Amor, a 45 from Blaylock and a 49 from Carswell. Maynor (53) and Lowry (58) also played for the Trojans.

Christian Griffith had a 42 for Ringgold (199). Cohen Shattuck carded a 47, followed by a 54 from Coulter Porter and a 55 from Evan Vineyard. Brayden Roach (56) and Noah Maretti (60) also played for the Tigers.

LAFAYETTE GIRLS GET PAST HERITAGE

At Windstone Golf Club in Ringgold on Thursday, the Lady Ramblers faced the Lady Generals and it was LaFayette picking up the win, 99-105. Only the lowest two individual scores counted in the team total.

Maggie Green shot 47 for the Lady Ramblers, followed by a 52 from Abby Keys, a 57 by Ella Maples and a 63 from Adalyn Brown.

The Lady Generals got a personal-best score of 43 from low medalist Madi Hunt and a 62 from Morgan Roberts.
