Heritage girls slip past Ringgold in battle of unbeatens

Basketball teams in the North Georgia Athletic Conference wrapped up their pre-Thanksgivi­ng slates last week, highlighte­d by a big-time Catoosa County varsity girls’ clash last Monday.

HERITAGE 35, RINGGOLD 33

Paisley Collins scored nine points and pulled down 11 rebounds for Heritage. Georgia Gracy collected eight points and two steals. Bailey Walling went for seven points with Madi Simpson picking up four.

Addyson Morrison had two points and three assists, while Collins Fletcher and Bre Roberts both scored two points to close out the night. The Lady Generals got it done in the third quarter, outscoring Ringgold, 13-3.

Jersey Rae Loy had a game-high 23 points for Ringgold with 13 coming in the first quarter. She finished with five 3-pointers. Gracelee Thorton had six points, while Albany Harris and Keelie Mountjoy chipped in with two apiece.

HERITAGE 38, LAFAYETTE 13

The Heritage varsity girls scored a home victory on Thursday to remain unbeaten.

Gracy had a dozen points and a half-dozen steals for the Lady Generals. Walling added nine points and three rebounds, while Roberts (two rebounds) and Fletcher (three rebounds) both added four points.

Collins grabbed six boards to go with her three points. Ansley Lawson (two assists) and Simpson (one assist) each had two points with Electra Bowling (five steals) and Abby Wilson (two steals) helping out on the defensive end.

No individual statistics for the Lady Ramblers had been provided as of press time.

RINGGOLD 58, SADDLE RIDGE 48

The Lady Tigers bounced back at home on Thursday, opening up an 18-5 lead after the first quarter and enjoyed a 37-16 advantage at intermissi­on before holding off the Lady Mustangs in the second half.

Loy led Ringgold with 18 points. Thorton and Harris had 14 points each. Mya Tate finished with seven points. Katy Haddock and Emma Cleland had two apiece, while Mountjoy added one.

Elliott Rogers paced Saddle Ridge with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Erin Grant went for nine points and Jacey Wiggins added seven. Brilee Wilson’s six points came on a pair of long-range shots, while a three from Ella Eppley and two points from Caylie Harrell filled out the scoring column.

LAKEVIEW 50, TRION 27

In Trion last Monday, the Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Bulldogs in every single quarter, opening up a 26-13 lead at intermissi­on before pulling away even more in the second half.

Abigail Rifenberic­k scored a gamehigh 22 points for Lakeview. Kaylee Moore dropped in nine points and Ava Headrick finished with six in the victory. Bryleigh Gray (five), Lizet Jimenez (four) and Ainsley Rolen (two) also got in the book for the Lady Warriors, who enjoyed their first victory of the season.

LAKEVIEW 26, EAST RIDGE 5

A smothering defensive performanc­e sent the Lady Warriors to their second win in as many nights with a non-league victory at East Ridge last Tuesday.

Lakeview opened up a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and then proceeded to shut out the Lady Pioneers during the next two quarters.

Rifenberic­k had a game-high 11 points for the Lady Warriors. Moore had five points and Jimenez added four, while the trio of Headrick, Mallory Spatafore and Maya Satterfiel­d each chipped in with two points.

LAKEVIEW 35, TRION 11

The Lady Warriors made the trip to Trenton on Thursday and put up another sparkling defensive performanc­e.

Ayvah Langston had nine points in the victory and Rifenberic­k finished

with six. Gray, Satterfiel­d, Spatafore and Jimenez each scored four points, followed by Moore and Headrick with two apiece.

GORDON LEE 50, DADE 8

The visiting Lady Wolverines hit a 3-pointer with 43 seconds left in the first half to finally get on the board and end what had been a 35-0 Lady Trojans’ run to start last Monday’s game.

Camdyn Carter went for 22 points and Kyleigh Custer added nine for Gordon Lee in the rout. Marley Stone had six points and Whitney Blaylock added five, while the rest of the offense included two points apiece by Riley Mull, Hynleigh Harding, Laney Wilson and Kynleigh Custer.

GORDON LEE 46, SODDY-DAISY 38

The Navy-and-White played their final game before the holiday break on Wednesday and got past a good Soddy-Daisy squad in a non-league contest in Chickamaug­a.

Carter continued her hot start to the season with 17 points. Mull added 10 and Wilson had seven, while Kyleigh and Kynleigh Custer both dropped in six.

CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 54, SADDLE RIDGE 44

The homestandi­ng Lady Eagles built a 33-18 lead at the half and were able to keep the Lady Mustangs at

arm’s length for the rest of the night as they picked up the victory.

Kailynn Bailey enjoyed a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double. Jordyn Thomas had 13 points to go with three rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Chesney Pritchett collected 10 points, seven boards, three steals and three assists.

Sha Elliot chipped in with nine points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal, while the rest of the scoring included four from Rachael Lukens, two from Maddi Champagne, and one from Kaselynn Careathers.

Kayona Pierce had 12 points for Saddle Ridge and Grant added 10. Wiggins and Harrell each scored eight points, while six from Rogers rounded out the scoring for the Lady Mustangs.

CHATTANOOG­A VALLEY 46, TRION 36

The Lady Eagles earned their third win of the season behind a monster night from Thomas on the road.

Thomas lit up the Lady Bulldogs for 30 points to go with eight steals, five rebounds and one assist. Champagne had nine points, three boards and a pair of steals, while Bailey collected five points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Pritchett chipped in with two points, three rebounds and a steal, while Elliott helped anchor the defense with three rebounds, three steals and two assists.
