Ridgeland boys collect season’s first win

The Ridgeland Panthers went on the road last Tuesday night and picked up their initial victory of the season with a 48-43 Region 6-3A triumph at Bremen.

Junior varsity call-up Isaac Mitchell, on the roster to replace Matthew Ramsey, who was forced to miss the game with an illness, scored 11 points for Ridgeland, including going 3 of 4 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

John Hill also had 11 points, while Chase Hickman matched them with 11. Hickman knocked down three 3-pointers and scored all of his points in the second quarter, which saw the Panthers rally from a onepoint deficit to take a 28-20 lead at intermissi­on.

Eron Graham finished with nine points, while Aiden Jones scored six on a pair of threes.

ADAIRSVILL­E BOYS 74, RIDGELAND 33

The visitors took advantage of an extremely cold shooting night by the Panthers and rolled to a region victory on Friday.

Ramsey and Mitchell led Ridgeland with six points apiece. Graham finished with four, while Hickman, Jones and Carter Myers scored three apiece.

Hill, Hayden Mooneyham, Dakota Stone and Jaki Elliott each finished with two points to cap the scoring.

BREMEN GIRLS 49, RIDGELAND 20

The Lady Panthers got 12

points from Jamiah Lewis in last Tuesday’s loss, followed by five from Emma Fowler, two from Madison Lennon and one from Bralie Blevins.

ADAIRSVILL­E GIRLS 55, RIDGELAND 46

The Black-and-White found itself in a 41-41 tie midway through the fourth quarter on Friday. However, the visiting Lady Tigers went on a 12-2 run over a 3:40 span and claimed a Region 6-3A victory.

Adairsvill­e’s Analee Morris keyed a big fourth quarter for the visitors. She had 13 of her team-high 26 points in the final stanza as the Lady Tigers outscored Ridgeland 20-10 in the fourth. The Lady Panthers had ended the third quarter with a 36-35 lead.

Lewis, the freshman, had a huge game for Ridgeland as she poured in a game-high 30 points. Fowler had eight points. Lennon and Ava Mariakis scored three apiece, while Lacie Moyer added two.
