LaFayette boys start to find their form

The LaFayette Ramblers posted their first victory of the season last Tuesday night and it came at the expense of Coahulla Creek.

Dawson Pendergras­s had 17 points, Jaden Morris added 13 and halas Finley finished with eight in a 56-31 road victory. Anthony Henderson, ShiRay’ Walker and Evan Williams scored five apiece.

LAFAYETTE BOYS 60, GORDON LEE 40

Back at home on Friday, the Ramblers made it two victories in a row by using a big second half to put away the Trojans.

LaFayette trailed at 26-22 at intermissi­on, but outscored their guests 38-14 over the final two periods of play.

LaFayette got 19 points from Henderson. Morris had 14 points, including two big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Pendergras­s had 10 points. Finley scored eight points and grabbed a team-high 17 rebounds. Walker added seven points and Williams dropped in two.

COAHULLA CREEK GIRLS 52, LAFAYETTE 32

The Lady Ramblers were not as fortunate last Tuesday as the Lady Colts opened up a close game in the second half.

Jenna Baker had 12 points, six steals and four rebounds in the loss. Suki Williams added nine points and led the Lady Ramblers with a dozen boards. Fanny Barber and Raven Yancy each scored four points and grabbed four rebounds, while Yancy also collected three steals.

Haven Yancy had two points and Ella Webb added one to round out the scoring.

LAFAYETTE GIRLS 61, GORDON LEE 36

In Friday’s opener, the Lady Ramblers took a narrow 23-21 lead at the break, but outscored the Lady Trojans in the second half, 38-18.

Jenna Baker had a huge game with 24 points, five rebounds and four steals. Raven Yancy finished with 14 points, three rebounds and two steals, while Michaela Baker, seeing her first action of the season, got back into the swing of things with eight points, five boards and two steals.

Williams had five points and five rebounds. Haven Yancy finished with four points and four rebounds. Fanny Barber had four points, four boards and three assists, while Pendley chipped in with two points for the Lady Ramblers.
