Ringgold teams drop two in region play

The Ringgold Lady Tigers got 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals from Leiah Henderson last Tuesday night, but it was not enough to get them past Adairsvill­e, as the region’s other Lady Tigers scored a 52-42 victory in a 6-3A game in Bartow County.

Cady Helton had seven points, two rebounds and a steal. Alayna Yarger finished with seven points and four rebounds. insley Forscutt scored five points and grabbed one board, while Eryn Epps finished with four points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists.

COAHULLA CREEK GIRLS 47, RINGGOLD 28

The Lady Tigers fell behind 26-13 at halftime on Friday and never recovered.

Henderson scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds and collected two steals for Ringgold. Brooke Baldwin scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Helton and Forscutt scored four points each.

The rest of the scoring included three points from Hannah Scott, two by Serenity Russell and one from Yarger.

HERITAGE GIRLS 43, RINGGOLD 36

The opening game of Saturday night’s doublehead­er in Ringgold saw the visitors grab a first-quarter lead and maintain it the rest of the game to hand the Lady Tigers a non-region loss.

Ringgold got 12 points and 10 rebounds from Henderson, eight points by Helton and six points, five rebounds and two steals from Scott. Baldwin finished with six points and four rebounds.

Russell and Epps both had two points, while Epps also pulled down six boards and dished out two assists.

ADAIRSVILL­E BOYS 60, RINGGOLD 57

The Tigers led 27-23 at halftime last Tuesday and took a five-point lead into the fourth quarter, but were unable to hold on down the stretch.

Luke Rominger had 16 points for Ringgold, followed by Brevin Massengale with 15 and Taylor Pierce with 10. O’Reilly Matthews added nine points, while seven from Cooper Sexton rounded out the scoring.

COAHULLA CREEK BOYS 49, RINGGOLD 48

In Friday’s nightcap, the Tigers held a five-point lead going into the fourth, but were outscored 15-9 over the final eight minutes and dropped a one-point decision.

Matthews had 12 points for the Tigers. Massengale finished with 11 and Pierce had 10. Rominger finished with nine and Sexton had six.

HERITAGE BOYS 60, RINGGOLD 54

Then on Saturday night, the Tigers trailed by 17 going into the final period, but a late-game rally would fall six points short.

Ringgold got 11 points each from Rominger and Matthews, nine from Massengale and six from Cade Shull. Sexton, Braxton Holtcamp and Gavin Lakin all scored five points, while two from Pierce rounded out the night.
