The Wildcats outscored Ringgold in each of the first three quarters to build a 49-39 lead. But the Blue-and-White held the boys from Benton to just seven points in the fourth to key the comeback victory in the tournament opener.

O’Reilly Matthews and Luke Rominger led the way offensively in the fourth. Matthews scored 12 points in the quarter and finished with a season-high 31, while Rominger had nine of his 11 points in the final period.

Brevin Massengale had 10 points, Taylor Pierce added six, and the trio of Bryce

Harris, Braxton Holtcamp and Cade Shull scored two each for the Tigers.

The Tigers were down just six points on Thursday night, but the previously-unbeaten Mountaineers erupted for a big third quarter on their way to a win.

A 22-point second quarter pulled the Tigers to within 41-35 at halftime. However, North Murray would outscore Ringgold 3311 in the next eight minutes to improve to 9-0 on the year.

Rominger scored 11 points for the Tigers (4-9). Massengale had 10 points. Harris and Holtcamp scored seven each, and Shull added six. Five points by Pierce, three by John Searcy and two each from Zachary Fow and Gavin Lakin rounded out the scoring.

Due to the extreme cold weather this past Friday, Ringgold’s final game of the tournament was canceled.

Ringgold will next take the floor on Jan. 6 when they host Bremen in a Region 6-3A contest.
