After two very successful seasons in the Chattanooga Area Swim League’s Red Division, the Catoosa Great White Sharks will move into deeper waters for the 2023 season as they were promoted to the league’s upper Blue Division.

Catoosa won back-to-back CASL Red Division titles in 2021 (4-1) and 2022 (5-0) after the 2020 season was canceled out of concerns over COVID.

Catoosa’s season gets underway June 5 with a home meet against the Stuart Heights Sharks at 5:30 p.m., while the first week will conclude on June 8 with a 6 p.m. meet at Signal Mountain.

The Great White Sharks will travel to Ooltewah to take on the Tidal Waves on June 12 (5:30 p.m.) and return home on June 14 to face the Dalton Dolphins (6 p.m.).

Signal Mountain’s Green Giants will head to Fort Oglethorpe for a divisional meet on June 19 (5:30 p.m.) before Ooltewah comes to town on June 21 (6 p.m.)

Catoosa will step out of league on June 24 to host the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association’s District 5 meet, before Mountain Shadows comes to town on June 26 for a non-league meet.

Fort Oglethorpe will once again host the CASL Bill Caulkins City Meet on July 7 and 8, and the Great White

Sharks will conclude the year at the GRPA state meet in Moultrie on July 14 and 15.

Catoosa last competed in the Blue Division back in 2019 and went 0-8 against Ooltewah, Stuart Heights, Signal Mountain and Dalton.

Ooltewah, Stuart Heights and Signal Mountain finished first, second and third, respectively, in last year’s CASL City Meet, while Dalton placed sixth. Catoosa ended the city meet in seventh place out of 14 teams.

Meanwhile, high atop Lookout Mountain, the Fairyland Flash will begin its 2023 season on June 8 with a home meet against Calhoun at the Fairyland Club at 5:30 p.m. That will be followed by a road trip to Cleveland to face the Waterdogs on June 12 (6 p.m.).

On June 15, the Flash will host the Wavemakers of the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club (5:30 p.m.) before they head to Calhoun on June 19 to take on the Blue Barracudas (6 p.m.).

The season continues on June 26 with a meet at Chattanooga Golf and Country Club (5:30 p.m.) before the regular season finale back at home against the Waterdogs on June 29 (5:30 p.m.).

Fairyland went 5-1 in Red Division action in 2022 and 3-1 in 2021, earning runnerup in the division both times.

The Flash will also be participating in the City Meet July 7-8. They were fourth overall in 2022’s seasonending league-wide meet.
