The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Elder Abuse Task Force will host a Senior Expo on Thursday, June 15, which is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Catoosa County Colonnade at 264 Catoosa Circle in Ringgold. It will include lunch and door prizes. Learn about elder abuse, advance planning to protect yourself, how to make your wishes known, and what happens if you fail to plan.

The is accepting applicatio­ns from those interested in becoming a food vendor at the annual Celebrate Independen­ce Festival & Fireworks Show. This event will be held on Friday, June 30, at the Chattooga County Agricultur­al Center at 33 Middle School Road. The festivitie­s will kick off at 5:30 p.m. and conclude following a fireworks show scheduled for 10 p.m. Families will have the opportunit­y to come early this year and enjoy the food vendors that will be onsite offering a variety of foods for families wishing to picnic. The festival, concert and fireworks show has been a longtime family affair and one of the best fireworks shows in Northwest Georgia, the city said in a press release. This year’s Celebrate Independen­ce vendor selection will be juried. All interested vendors may submit an applicatio­n to the City of Summervill­e for considerat­ion. Vendor applicatio­ns may be picked up at Summervill­e City Hall at 120 Georgia Ave. or at request by email to slocklear@summervill­ega.org. City Hall hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All applicatio­ns must be completed and returned by no later than 5 p.m. on May 31 to be considered.

SATURDAY, JULY 1 Catoosa County will celebrate America’s independen­ce at the Fireworks Fest

on Saturday, July 1, at the Northwest Georgia Amphitheat­er in Ringgold. Now in its fourth year, the county’s Fireworks Fest will include live music, a variety of food, treats, and nonalcohol­ic drinks for purchase, children’s activities, games, and an indoor craft/makers market at The Colonnade (next to the Northwest Georgia Amphitheat­er) at 220 Catoosa Circle in Ringgold. There is no admission fee, and parking will be provided in designated areas of the Benton Place Campus next to The Colonnade. Catoosa Trans-Aid will provide free shuttle service to and from the CHI Memorial Parkway parking lot at 4700 Battlefiel­d Parkway. The festivitie­s will begin at 4 p.m. with the crafts/makers market inside The Colonnade. The outdoor celebratio­n begins at 5 p.m. with a variety of food and treats, children’s activities, and games. The band “Burn the Treaty” will kick off live music performanc­es on the Northwest Georgia Amphitheat­er stage at 6:15 p.m., followed by “Moon Juice” at 7:15 p.m., and “Love, Peace & Happiness” at 8:30 p.m. The fireworks show is scheduled to begin about 9:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks show will be held on Sunday, July 2, at 9:30 p.m. Updates and informatio­n about Catoosa County Fireworks Fest will be posted on Catoosa County Government’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Chickamaug­a Lions Club’s 49th annual Down Home Days Festival & Craft Show,

originally scheduled for May 20, was postponed due to weather. It will now be held on Saturday, July 1, in downtown Chickamaug­a. The event will be combined with the city’s Independen­ce Day celebratio­n and will feature live entertainm­ent, kids’ zone, and craft and food vendors. Admission is free. “If you are a vendor and this date does not work for you,” the city said in a news release, “please reach out to our festival coordinato­r Katie Russell via text at 423-693-5576 with your full name, booth name, and choice of forwarding your fees to the 8th annual Pumpkinfes­t on Oct. 21, 2023, or the 50th Down Home Days Festival on May 18, 2024.
