Women's Civic League plans new fundraising efforts
Much like their fellow service clubs, the Women's Civic League had to get creative with their annual fundraisers.
The annual Showcase of Homes was cancelled for this year, which is the league’s largest fund raiser, due to COVID-19 restrictions. So, members have developed a silent auction and a Harvest Dinner with the help of Cloud Nine.
Civic League members are currently selling tickets for the Harvest Dinner, which will be on Thursday, Oct. 1. The meal will be pork wiener schnitzel, German potato salad, hot slaw, pumpernickel bread and an apple dumpling. Ticket holders will be able to pickup their dinner at Cloud Nine Cafe at 102 W. Auglaize St in downtown Wapakoneta from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Casa Chic, from any Civic League member or by calling Amy Sessor at 419-305-5642 or Chandra Hoffman at 937-672-2674. Please leave a message if you reach voicemail. A portion of each
meal will go to support college scholarships for deserving Wapakoneta High School seniors and Karing for Kids, which addresses the needs of local schoolage children. Please support our local students and purchase tickets by Monday, Sept. 28.
The other fund raiser currently happening by the Civic League is a silent auction for a fall centerpiece. The centerpiece was donated by Haehn Florist at 410 Hamilton Road, Wapakoneta, and is currently on display there until Thursday, Sept. 24. On Friday Sept. 25, the centerpiece will be on display at Casa Chic, 109 W. Auglaize in downtown Wapakoneta, until Wednesday, Sept. 30. At 5 p.m. that day the winner will be announced.
To place a bid call or go to Haehn Florist until Sept. 24 at 419-738-8485. Then on Sept. 25-30 call Casa Chic at 419-7382298 or place your bid in person there.
One-hundred percent of the proceeds will be helping a good cause for local children through the Karing for Kids fund and college scholarships.
Karing for Kids addresses the needs of local school-age children; college scholarships are awarded to Wapakoneta High School graduating seniors.
