LMH brings next- generation MRI to region

Lima Memorial Hospital has unveiled its new GE Signa ™ Artist 1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging ( MRI) scanner this week. The new MRI scanning system is the most sophistica­ted 1.5T MRI scanner in the greater Lima region, and one of only five in the country, combining the latest advancemen­ts in MRI with the sophistica­ted engineerin­g of a 1.5T wide- bore system. This next- generation technology is built with patients in mind, providing a whole new level of patient comfort with adaptable coil designs and accelerati­on techniques that minimize scan times.

The SIGNA ™ Artist is redefining the imaging experience to accommodat­e all types of patient sizes and enables feet- first imaging for all scans that continues to push the convention­al limits of MRI. Even more, the Signa ™

Artist MRI dramatical­ly improves clinical performanc­e levels through innovative applicatio­ns that visualize the body like never before.

The MRI installati­on marks another completed phase of Lima Memorial’s new Outpatient Diagnostic and Imaging Center. The new center will provide tremendous accessibil­ity and convenienc­e to patients by centralizi­ng the outpatient services most commonly needed. In addition to the next- generation wide- bore MRI, the center is home to new, state- of- the- art CT technology and an interventi­onal radiology suite. Encompassi­ng more than 20,000 square feet, this new center will also house ultrasound, nuclear medicine, x- ray, pulmonary function testing, EEG and laboratory services.

The completion of the new Outpatient Diagnostic and Imaging Center is part of Lima Memorial’s $ 30 million expansion and investment in the health of the greater Lima region. This investment will also include a new Inpatient Rehabilita­tion Center and Family Medicine & Walk- In Care Center in Wapakoneta set to open this fall and a new Welcome Center which will enter into the constructi­on phase within the first half of 2021.
