LSO offers Halloween storytime
LIMA – The Lima Symphony Orchestra is gearing up for Halloween with stories of monsters coming this fall, beginning with Where the Wild Things Are with words and pictures by Maurice Sendak.
The “Symphony Storytime” series pairs popular children’s literature with music. “Symphony Storytime” has moved to a digital format this season to enable the Symphony to continue serving their young audiences while staying safe at a time when large gatherings are not possible.
Where the Wild Things Are with words and pictures by Maurice Sendak is the iconic story about a boy named Max, who wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind and another and journeys to the place where the wild things are. Max reigns as king until he smells good things to eat from far away across the world… As with in- person Storytimes, this program serves to introduce children to classic and beloved children’s literature, bringing the books to life with specially selected classical music. The program is designed to spark children’s imaginations and foster a lifelong love of and appreciation for music and literature. This program is appropriate for all ages and is available through the Lima Symphony Orchestra YouTube page. New performances will continue to be released throughout the fall. Links to Symphony Storytime can also be accessed through the Lima Symphony Orchestra website.
These performances are part of the Lima Symphony’s ongoing commitment to music education and their firm belief that music and the other arts are critical tools in building strong communities.
