Spirit Holiday Shopping event is planned at local yoga studio

With Thanksgiving behind us, the holiday season is in full gear, which means it's time to shop. Window- shopping for yourself is the easy part. It's deciding on the gift to give someone that's hard.

Melanie Yocum, owner of Lightworker Yoga, is here to help. Because on Dec. 5 from 10 a. m.- 4 p. m. Yocum's studio will have a Spirit Holiday Shopping Event at her studio, the first shopping event Yocum has ever put together.

"We are basically trying to have a space where people can come and do their Christmas shopping," Yocum said.

The sales event came about after Yocum and a friend decided they wanted to help the community during this difficult time.

Think of the event as another farmer's market. The studio will have nine vendors, all focused on products or services that are good for the mind, body and spirit. To, in Yocum's words, "give [ people] one place to come and to get gifts that are centered on wellness and healing and really

just taking care of yourself body, mind and spirit."

"It's unique holiday gifts, healing services, products and it's all local," Yocum added.

Being health- concious, Yocum noticed a growing concern within the community of people wanting to take care of themselves.

"The best thing to do is take care of yourself now, and get your body and your mind set the healthiest that you can," she said, "… if you take care of yourself it's almost like you're building up this defense so you can just be happier and healthier."

Besides the yoga passes and new merchandise Lightworker will be selling, other vendors will include Time for You Massage, Crystal Visionz, Cakes and Sweets bakery, Holistic Rebel and Back On Track Physical Therapy.

But that's not all.

Lena Springer will be offering crystal and card readings among other services. Beverly Neumeier will have medium hip sessions, a representative for Zilis' hemp- derived Cannabidiol ( CBD) products will be on hand, and Tammy Gegel's Cakes and Sweets will be selling a variety of baked goods, including allergen friendly, glutton- free and sugar- free.

Yocum also wants shoppers to support local, small businesses.

"Come out and support us," Yocum said. "Right now especially small businesses are really struggling."

Not only will you be supporting local business, but you'll be experiencing, ' the flavor of health and wellness." At least according to Yocum.
