Cancer Association of Auglaize County will host raffle event
The Cancer Association of Auglaize County ( ACCA) is gearing up for its inaugural virtual raffle next month.
Usually conducting its annual quarter auction, the association is holding a virtual raffle to keep participates safe with the coronavirus pandemic spiking locally and nationally. It will be the CAAC'S largest fundraiser this year to help fund its operations to help Auglaize County cancer patients.
The association has been assisting those battling cancer that resides in Auglaize county since 2001 and the CAAC'S mission is to help and support all the cancer patients of Auglaize County and all of the funds the association receives stays in the county.
The association will cover many expenses that most insurance and national organizations do not, with mileage reimbursement being its largest expense while supporting those patients financially by paying for transportation to and from doctor visits and other medical trips for chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The association also pays for supplements prescribed by doctors for patients.
"With the quarter auction, that is a big gathers, the craft fair is a big gathering and the Battle with the Businesses was too so we didn't think we were having anything this year," ACCA President Ruthann Woesner said.
The raffle will be held at 7 p. m. Dec. 12 and livestreamed on the Wayne Street United Methodist Church's Youtube channel.
The raffle features more than $ 4,500 in prizes, including a Blackstone grill/ griddle combo and cover, gift baskets, gift certificates to area businesses, a Sony HT SD- 35 sound bar and more.
Tickets for the raffle at $ 10 for one ticket and $ 20 for three tickets and tickets can be purchased at the Wishing Well Clinic & Spa, 153 E. Spring St., 777 located at St. Marys Squares, Casa Chic, 109 W. Auglaize St., Wapakoneta, Compton, Neck & Back Pain Relief Center at 134 W. Spring St. as well as the CAAC, at its new location at 506 Jackson St. Woesner added that she has been approached by the Resource and Opportunity Center in helping sell raffle tickets there as well.
"We think this will give us a good amount of funding," Woesner said.
The last day to buy tickets at the CAAC is Dec. 10 and by Dec. 3 or while tickets last at the businesses giving out tickets.
Items from the raffle can be picked up at Wayne Street UMC as soon as winners are announced. Items will remain at the church from 8: 30 a. m. to noon Dec. 13 for pickup and any items after that, CAAC members will reach out to the winners.
