Grand Lake Health System announces vaccination rollout

-

Grand Lake Health System is preparing for Phase 1B of Ohio’s vaccine rollout that begins next week. The hospital expects to have available a limited supply of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for the initial phase of the next priority group.

According to the Grand Lake Health System Chief Nursing Officer, Lana Hinders, eligible recipients will be able to fill out an online form available via the health system website that puts the patient on a waiting list. Eligible patients, as defined by public health officials, will then be contacted by phone to schedule a vaccine appointment. The health system intends to use the health system website, social media, and the patient portal to provide information to the public regarding vaccine clinics. Please follow these outlets to stay abreast of activity occurring in the health system.

The rapidly evolving information from public health officials continues to create challenges in planning efforts. Initially, Phase 1B vaccine is in limited supply and is only going to be available for specific critical populations. Governor Dewine has been explicit regarding Ohio’s goals to focus largely on those in age groups most vulnerable to COVID-19. Once the vaccine is more widely available, vaccines will be available to all Ohioans. The hospital is urging everyone to be patient during the process.

Phase 1B timelines published by Ohio Department of Health are as follows and subject to change:

• 80+ years of age starting the week of January 18, 2021

• 75+ years of age starting the week of January 25, 2021

• 70+ years of age starting the week of February 1, 2021

• 65+ years of age starting the week of February 8, 2021

• Ohioans with congenital medical disorders starting the week of January 25, 2021

• Adults in K-12 settings starting February 1, 2021

Currently, both the Auglaize County Health Department and the Grand Lake Health System are providing vaccinations to Tier 1A at the health department and in the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital employee health clinic. Starting Monday, January 18, 2021, the local health department and the health system will begin publicizing where eligible recipients can go to get vaccinated throughout their county starting next week.

According to Governor Dewine, vaccine shipments should start arriving next Monday.

Please visit our website at www. grandlakehealth.org to complete the appointment request form or call 419-300-1132. If the 1B criteria is met, patients will receive a phone call to schedule their appointment.
