WISH will celebrate Dr. Seuss birthday

- BY ALEX GUERRERO STAFF WRITER

Jessica Moler, owner of WISH Children's Boutique, knows the stress in getting children ready for school. That stress can multiply when a child brings home a form from school Friday afternoon telling parents all about dress-up events the following week.

Fortunately, Moler wants to help.

So this Saturday, Feb. 27, in recognition of Dr. Seuss' birthday, the boutique will be having a craft day for children. The event will be from 10-11:30 a.m.

"As a mom, you always find yourself the week of Dr. Seuss' birthday… you're always sent home something with the kids saying, 'hey, please dress up like your favorite Dr. Seuss character," Moler said. "Mom's are left scrambling to find whatever they can."

For $20/child, crafts, pictures and snacks will be provided. Kids will also have the opportunity to make a Dr. Seuss shirt and hat to prepare them for Dr. Seuss week at school.

Looking back, this is an event Moler wished was available earlier.

"We're doing this event just as a, 'hey moms, we got ya on this,'" Moler said.

Besides providing 90 minutes of child care, those children participating will be ready for school the next week, though Moler said she wasn't working in conjunction with Wapak City Schools.

Parents don't even have to be there.

"They can drop the kids off, go take a walk, they can do some shopping, they can get a coffee," Moler said. "They can have a little time to themselves during this event."

To purchase a ticket, parents can visit wishchildrensboutique.com to sign up. But space is limited. Of the 10 tickets available, five were sold as of Monday morning.

Children attending are required to wear a mask and social-distancing will be observed.
