Redskins, Trojans still alive in playoffs
The Ohio High School Athletic Association’s postseason basketball is in full swing, and three area teams are still dancing their way toward a potential state title.
The Wapakoneta boys (13-9) collected a win in the Divison II sectionals over fellow Western Buckeye League member Celina, with a seven-point margin of victory, 3730.
That puts the Redskins in a sectional final against #2 seed Wauseon.
The Indians are members of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League. They are 17-4 overall, and went 6-1 in league play, finishing second behind Archbold.
They had won six straight games before losing to Archbold 5237 in the regular season finale last Friday.
They received a first-round bye.
The winner of the contest will move to the district semifinals. They will face the victor between #3 St. Marys and #6 Napoleon.
The top half of the bracket will see Elida take on top seed Shawnee and #7 Van Wert travel to #4 Defiance.
The district semis are set for March 3 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Spencerville, followed by the district final on March 6. ———
