Airport board OKS use of logo for run

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

NEW KNOXVILLE — The Auglaize County Airport Authority met briefly Wednesday morning to approve minor items that were deemed too pressing to wait until the regularly scheduled March meeting.

The largest matter that came before the board involved permitting the use of the authority’s logo by Amy Kentner. Kentner is planning a 5K run commemorating the grand opening of the newly constructed terminal at the Neil Armstrong Airport and she requested the logo for promotional materials as well as for the medals awarded to participants.

No changes are to be made to the logo’s aspect ratio, color, or any other portion of the design. Authority member Brent Richter has the color codes so that they can remain as specified. Any other types of usage, or context changes for the logo, must be brought up again with the board. The motion passed unanimously.

The terminal’s grand opening is scheduled for June 12 and will feature a pancake breakfast, have lunchtime activities and possible music and food, with a 5K race at night. A suggestion was made to include a display of all of the airport’s maintenance equipment as well.

Airport authority members also unanimously passed an increase of five cents per gallon of 100 low-lead aviation fuel (100LL) to accommodate a slight increase in fuel costs for the airport. The price was changed from $4.45 per gallon to $4.50 per gallon.

Discussion included airport Manager Ted Berstrom reporting that the area pricing of 100LL to be approximately $4.64. After further review — after the cost of delivery and the airport needing a net profit margin of 11% — $4.45 per gallon was deemed insufficient to meet net margin goals.
