John e. Baker, 73

John E. Baker, 73, of Wapakoneta, died 3:31 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System emergency room, following a sudden illness.

He was born Feb. 3, 1948, in Cleveland, OH, the son of Harry and Helen (Wallace) Baker, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 10, 1976, he married Delana R. Cooper, and she survives.

Other survivors include children, Michael Webb, Napa, FL, Tonia Webb, Lima, Scott Webb, Lima; grandchild­ren Felicia Jones, Brandon Jones, Destinee Webb, Courtney Mcredmond, Dallas Webb, Chance Webb; greatgrand­children Hannah, Kaylyn, Brandon, Jr., Hayden, Parker, Carder, Avery, Katelena; several nieces; nephews; and wonderful sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was proceeded in death by several brothers and sisters.

John retired from Ford Motor Co., Lima Engine Plant, after 34 years of service. He was U.S. Navy Seal, and served two tours of duty in Viet Nam. John was a member of the Plum Street Baptist Church, Wapakoneta, and the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. He enjoyed playing cards, and was a car enthusiast.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Ron Boyer officiatin­g. The family will receive family and friends 1-3 p.m., Tues., at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445, at the funeral home following the funeral service.
