Studio A stylists happy with new location
People move for a myriad of reasons: they may want their own space, they might have outgrown the space they have, they may want to be somewhere else or they might want to live with someone.
It's the second reason that Studio A moved from 802 Lima St. to its new location at 601 Logan St.
For anyone unfamiliar, Salon A describes itself as a passionate, collaborative group of beauty professionals committed to excellence in every aspect of the guest experience.
"We saw a need for more services in our communities, so… we looked into expanding, and our building we were in wasn't able to hold all of the services that we wanted to provide," Audrey Oen, owner of Salon A, said. "We looked into expanding and found where we could find opportunities to grow."
She said while the salon doesn't offer what they eventually plan to have, she
hopes the growth will allow them to offer new services. Right now they can provide spa treatment, more hair services, body waxing, make-up and tanning.
She also plans to add nail services, spray tanning, micro blading, eyelash extensions and massages.
Studio A has only been at its new location for a couple weeks, but the moving process started in 2020 after she acquired the property - formerly a granary - last February. Oen said she seriously started considering a move at the end of 2019 or beginning of 2020, though admitted she was a little surprised at how quickly the whole process took.
But was happy to get it.
"Throughout 2020 we started to really outgrow our old space," Oen said. "We were able to build our team… so as we were growing we kind of attracted more service providers to us. They were coming, asking if we were hiring, and so we really did outgrow our space quickly."
So far, the new space has worked well for Oen and her team.
"The office rooms worked out perfect for spa rooms," she said.
Oen said guests have noticed there has been an improvement in the way they're treated.
She couldn't provide an exact number for the amount of guests they were able to accommodate, but described it as 'a lot more', and guessed previously the salon was able to provide 200 hair services monthly. Now, she said they can do 500-600.
Currently, no date has been set for a grandopening, but Oen hopes to have one this summer. She said she's talked with Coffe Amor about bringing a coffee cart. She also wants to have giveaways during the future event.

Dear Annie: You were so right to encourage “RSVPP” to attend the son’s wedding, despite the estrangement. My son invited me to his wedding, and I went, despite hardly being involved in his life.
I was slighted during the event, in keeping with what our relationship had turned into, but I was strong. I have that milestone, a universal and timeless tradition in my memory. My only daughter actually told me I would not be coming to her wedding, and I was absent. Today, my son is dead, and I have no regrets because I have that moment in my memory of his short life. The awkward moments have faded. Perhaps they should read Karl Pillemer’s “Fault Lines, Fractured Families and How to Mend Them,” before they go. They are not alone and maybe their presence will be a turn in the relationship. For whatever reason, the son has made the first move. The couple will likely be having their grandchildren. Dear Dismissed: This man sounds like a psychic vampire, and he won’t be satisfied until he sucks the life out of you. Bar him from your house, and block his number. At first, you might find it hard not to talk with him, but I promise that it will get easier with time -- and you will look back on it as one of the best decisions of your life.
