Thomas D. Jones, 64

Thomas Daniel Jones of Huber Heights, Ohio, died on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

He was born November 22, 1956 in Berlin, Germany, where his father was stationed in the Army and his mother was born.

He graduated from Wapakoneta High School in 1974, where he was active in the video club, the marching band, the jazz band, and the school newspaper. He earned a Bachelor of Profession­al Aeronautic­s from the Embry-riddle Aeronautic­al University, Internatio­nal Campus in 1988.

In 1980 he married Damarys (Rodriguez)

Dowling in Panama City, Panama, and had two sons, Christophe­r and Jonathan. They divorced in 1999 and Tom remarried in 2008.

Tom joined the United States Air Force in 1975 and was stationed (among other places) in Rammstein Air Force Base, Germany, and Torrejon Air Force Base, Spain, where each of his sons were born.

He spent almost 20 years as an Air Traffic Controller before retiring from the Air Force. He continued the air traffic control career doing contract work in several facilities including Albuquerqu­e Radar Center, St. Louis Regional Tower, and MAC Center

in Antarctica.

He enjoyed traveling worldwide, amateur radio operations, and music.

Tom is survived by his sons, Christophe­r and Jonathan Jones, both of Las Vegas, NV; his mother, Christa Jones, of Cridersvil­le; three sisters, Nancy Jones of Sidney, Monica (Brian) Baik of Middletown, CT, and Shannon (Dan) Wilkinson of Cridersvil­le; two brothers, Greg Jones of Ottawa, and Terry (Maggie) Jones of St. Marys. He is also survived by two nephews, Bryan (Megan) Putt of Wapakoneta, and Matthew Putt of Middletown, CT; two nieces, Nicole (Matt) Foster of Tampa,

FL, and Savanna Jones of Wapakoneta; as well as a great-nephew, Colson Foster and great-niece Leena Foster, both of Tampa, FL.

He was predecease­d by his father, Daniel Jones, of Delphos; and his stepfather, Robert Jones, of Cridersvil­le.

A private service was held in January. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tom’s name to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
