Community Foundation shares $23,500 with local organizati­ons

The Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation recently awarded eight grants totaling more than $23,000 to organizati­ons that support residents of Wapakoneta and Auglaize County.

It is the mission of the Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation to improve the quality of life in the Wapakoneta area by addressing community needs through the distributi­on of grants in the areas of health, economic developmen­t, basic human needs, education, cultural activities, environmen­t, and community services, explained Bob Askins, executive director of the foundation, who shared the organizati­ons who received funding.

The Wapakoneta Family YMCA was awarded $7,000 to assist with Phase 2 of the Splash Pad project as well as a $2,500 grant to be used for the 2021 Support Campaign.

A $2,500 grant was also awarded to St. Paul United Church of Christ in support of their “Take Out Tuesday” adult meal program.

The Let’s Back the Blue organizati­on received a $5,000 grant designated to assist with the continued developmen­t of their community support program.

Grants of $2,000 were awarded to both the Downtown Wapakoneta Partnershi­p for its continued historical plaque and façade program and the Auglaize County Roots & Shoots organizati­on to assist with the placement of additional concrete flower pots in downtown Wapakoneta.

Assistance to Riverside Art Center for the purchasing of equipment and supplies for their Cloudy classroom and gallery was provided through a $1,500 grant.

An additional grant of $1,000 was awarded to the JTD Hospital Foundation to help with the

Healthy Baby Fund and the purchasing of HALO sleepers.

The Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation will open applicatio­ns for the second 2021 grant cycle from May 14 through June 14. All applicatio­ns must be done via the on-line applicatio­n found on the Foundation website at www.wapakacf.org.
