Mark J. Buehler, 89

Mark J. Buehler, 89, of Botkins died at 4:45 p.m., Thursday, March 25, 2021, at his residence., with his family at his side.

He was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Kettlersvi­lle, OH, the son of Alfred and Agnes (Hemmelgarn) Buehler, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 6, 1960, he married Barbara Ott, and she died Nov. 23, 1991. On Jan. 30, 1996, he married Betty Marshburn Uppenkamp, and she survives.

Other survivors include five children, Tim Buehler, Kent (Shelly) Buehler, Keith (Dawn) Buehler, Charles (Heather) Buehler, Nicole (Jerry) Combs, all of Botkins; step-daughter, Lori (Keith) Chappell, Churchill, TN; eight grandchild­ren; seven step-grandchild­ren; three great-grandchild­ren; seven stepgreat-grandchild­ren; a sister, Carol Jean (Jim) Bornhorst, Ft. Loramie, OH.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, Rory Rick Lawson; and a brother and spouse, Paul (Val) Buehler.

A life long farmer, Mark was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins. He graduated from Botkins High School in 1949 and was a veteran of the United State Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445, the American Legion, Heiland Post #446, Anna, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #691, Wapakoneta. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, hunting, fishing, and traveling.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins, with Rev. Sean Wilson officiatin­g. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Botkins, where military rites will be conducted. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, and 9- 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.

Memorial contributi­ons may be directed to Wilson Memorial Hospital Hospice Care or the American Legion Heiland Post #446. In keeping with current health guidelines, masks and distancing are required. The funeral service will be live streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
