Sandra S. Ritchie, 77, died peacefully at St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

She married Randy Ritchie on January 9, 1965. She spent her married life in Wapakoneta. Her working career included time at Neon Product Inc., J.C. Penney and Elder Beerman.

Sandy was a woman of many interests, the Christmas season being her favorite. The house would be decorated with many colorful lights, various Santa figures and numerous, beautifully wrapped gifts. Sandy delighted in selecting presents for her grandchildren, which could always be counted on to fill the room with happiness and joyful play time for the kids. Also, she excelled in finding the ‘coolest’ greeting card for all occasions, often embellished with glitter and singing.

She faithfully attended both sons’ scouting and sporting events over the years, no matter what the weather conditions were. She supported her church through various volunteer activities, including working on church suppers and bake sales. Sandy was the hostess for her family’s Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, never failing to include a delicious dessert of some type. At other times, her family enjoyed her tasty lasagna, shell salad, and Chex Party Mix. Sandy collected Hummel figurines, miniature spoons, and amassed a doll collection worthy of note. Sandy loved music, and her favorite artists included Elvis Presley, Rod Stewart, Garth Brooks, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Bing Crosby. She and Randy loved to dance, and in their early years of marriage, often went dancing at the VFW Dance Hall. She loved swimming and enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the city pool when they were visiting in the summer. Playing cards and board games were also favorites, as well as watching the HSN network, of which she was a fan. Dogs were a constant presence in her life, and she loved them dearly.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Randy Ritchie; her mother Betty Scheckelhoff; and sons, Brian of Wooster and Steve (Kris) of Wapakoneta; along with four grandchildren: Jack, Brooke, Alex and Kaleb.
