Shirley G. Campbell, 83, of Wapakoneta, died 10:33 p.m.,

Friday, March 26, 2021, at Mercy Health-st.

Rita’s Medical Center,

Lima.

She was born Oct.

29, 1937, in Auglaize

County, the daughter of Stanley and Mary

(Gossard) Spencer, who preceded her in death. On December

27, 1959, she married

John W. Campbell, and he died Dec. 30, 1981.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Campbell, Wapakoneta; two brothers, Dale (Diane-dec) Spencer, Lima, Bob (Joyce) Spencer, Waynesfiel­d; numerous nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews, whom Shirley considered her grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Campbell; and brothers and spouses, Charles (Janet) Spencer, Dwight (Roxie) Spencer, and Ferrell (Louise) Spencer.

Shirley worked as a switchboar­d operator at Lima Telephone Co. and Telephone Service Co., Wapakoneta. She later retired from Auglaize Acres. Shirley also did babysittin­g. She was a 1956 graduate of Waynesfiel­d-goshen High School. Shirley was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta, where she helped with funeral dinners and the annual chicken barbecue. She loved sports and was an avid fan of the Wapakoneta Redskins and The Ohio State University Buckeyes.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 2, 2021, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Lynda Lockwood officiatin­g. Burial is to follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, near Uniopolis, OH. The family will receive family and friends 4-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
