Search continues for new SSD
Two additional candidates are under consideration for the
safety-service director position that remains open for the city of Wapakoneta, and according to
acting Mayor Steve Henderson, there is no update to report.
Resumes were submitted by Greg A. Myers of Elida, and Lucas J. Roland of Columbus;
both documents were stamped received on Sept. 23. A job posting on the website Indeed,
now expired, indicated the deadline for resume submission was Sept. 15, 2018. A city official
said Wednesday once that error was pointed out, the posting was removed by former service director Floyd Gregg.
Myers is a United States Air Force veteran currently employed by the State of Oho
Department of rehabilitation and Corrections, and as an adjunct professor at Sinclair Community College.
Roland is the maintenance and facility manager for Rogue Fitness Manufacturing.
Henderson took over the search for a new safety service director after Mayor Tom
Stinebaugh was suspended from office and Gregg resigned to take a new job in Troy. He
said Wednesday those deadlines — and the formation of a
search committee — were created by those men, and “obviously neither of them are here at the present time.”
Henderson has effectively disbanded that group as a
search committee, and is continuing efforts to fill the position.
“Trust me, we are trying to do what is best for the city of Wapakoneta,” he said.
In other Wapakoneta City Council news, Terry Campbell, chairman of the Utilities Committee, announced the meeting originally scheduled for Monday has been changed to Thursday, Oct. 14, at 4:15 p.m. at city
hall. Members plan to meet with representatives of Choice
One Engineering.
