MORRAL — Visiting Waynesfield-goshen crushed Ridgedale 40-6 in a Week 9 Northwest Central Conference mismatch Friday night to stay

tied for second in the league race.

W-G improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the NWCC with the key

bounce-back win after losing 32-6 in Week 8 to Lima Perry.

Ridgedale fell to 3-5 and 1-4 in the NWCC with the defeat.

Senior quarterback Cooper Roberts rushed for three touchdowns to pace the victorious offense.

Blake Barnes and Aiden Biederman each added one rushing TD.

The Tigers led 10-0 after one period, and

extended it to 13-0 at halftime as Tigers kicker Ryder Siebeneck booted successful field goals from 35 and 27 yards.

Ridegdale tallied its only points on a thirdperiod interception return to paydirt that cut the deficit to 20-6.

But W-G built the lead back to a commanding 34-6 at the end of three quarters.

Waynesfield-goshen tallied the final 20 points to provide the

34-point margin of victory.

“Overall, it was a nice team win,” said W-G coach Shane Wireman. “The weather was sloppy for most of the first half.

“We would like to clean up our penalties on offense, and make

sure we are finishing on our drives in the red zone.”

Waynesfield-goshen (5-0 road) visits Hardin Northern (6-3, 4-2 NWCC) in the regular

season finale Friday.

“We have a big game next week against Hardin Northern,” Wireman said. “Hardin Northern is a wellcoached team, and

has a good athlete at quarterback.

“We know it will be a physical, four-quarter game.”

HN, Waynesfield and Perry are all tied for second in the NWCC standings at 4-2. USV (6-0) has already clinched the
