Yellow Jackets’ hitting error for a 13-8 advantage.

Kills from Tansey, Pahl and Giana Frayer drew the Yellow Jackets within a 1311 margin before Palmer

answered with a kill to give the Redskins a threepoint cushion.

The Yellow Jackets controlled eight of the next ten points as Sophie Burkey

blocked a Palmer hitting attempt, Beers threw down a kill and Avery Adamski

served two consecutive aces to hand Perrysburg a 16-15 lead in Set 3.

In the middle of a 12-4

run, the Yellow Jackets went ahead 20-17 before WHS fought back to tie the third set at 20. Palmer

sparked the Redskins with a pair of kills during their comeback before Perrysburg closed the match with a 5-1 surge of its own.

Defensively, Carlie Schroeder (16), Vanhorn (13) and Maddi O’neal (seven) were the dig leaders for Wapakoneta. Setter Reyna Woodruff recorded 20 assists for the Redskins.

Perrysburg took the first set by breaking a 3-3 tie with a short 3-point run

and finished with seven different surges of two points or more. Ahead 2013 late in the set, the Yellow Jackets tallied the final five points on back-to-back kills from Frayer and Tansey, a block from Burkey and another kill from Frayer.

In Set 2, Perrysburg made a 9-1 run to take a 16-7 lead and appeared to be cruising. However, WHS countered with a 6-0 surge powered by a pair of kills and a block from Palmer and an ace from Vanhorn led to a 16-13 margin.

“Halfway through the second set, we were within three points of them,”

Brown said. “I think were able to rally because we were getting touches on the block, we starting to tool off their block with our hitters. We had to find our spots, offensively, by tipping (the ball) to strategic places and finding

some points in unique ways. It wasn’t so much

scoring off kills, but scoring with aces, with blocks and a couple of lucky balls that went our way.”

The Yellow Jackets went

on another 9-1 run to take the second set 25-14 and grab a 2-0 lead in sets.

Perrysburg advanced to the district championship

match, where it will play Holland Springfield (17-7). The No. 5-seeded Blue Devils defeated No. 3-seeded Toledo Notre Dame (13-11)

in five sets 25-18, 24-26, 2518, 24-26, 15-8 in another

district semifinal match Monday in Bascom.

Seniors O’neal, Bailey Ware, Kyira Knous and Hanna Sparks participated
