Waynesfield murder to be featured on Discovery
The Waynesfield Police Department has confirmed that crews from Blackfin.tv were in the village recently to gather information about a 2017 murder for a Discovery Channel show.
According to its website, BLACKFIN, an eone company, was founded in 2014 by director and executive producer Geno Mcdermott. Since its inception, the company has established itself as an industry leader in producing premium nonfiction content. As a company founded and driven by filmmakers and storytellers, BLACKFIN is a sought after production partner for award-winning directors, producers, cinematographers, editors,
journalists and organizations looking to collaborate on groundbreaking projects.
About nine months ago Blackfin producers contacted the Waynesfield Police Department about a murder case that happened in 2017.
The case in question is the murder of Erin Mulcahy and the conviction of her estranged husband Brent Williams. Much of the trial centered around forensics and and whether Mulcahy suffered injuries as the result of a seizure in the shower, and others with whom Mulcahy had contact.
Since the case is now closed, Blackfin.tv utilized public records requests to obtain video, reports, photographs, audio recordings, etc., to determine if the Waynesfield murder was a case they wanted to feature.
About three weeks ago, Blackfin officials notified the police department and Auglaize County Sheriff's Office that they did want to produce an hour-long episode for the Investigation Discovery Channel.
Last week, sub-contracted videographers were in town to record interviews with Chief Motter and Auglaize County Sheriff' Deputy Lt. Douglas Burke along with some of the victim's friends and family. Videographers also took footage around the village via a drone and traditional video cameras for the show as well.
Blackfin.tv said they would let village officials know when the show would air, although it will likely be months from now before it is ready to air.
