Mercy Health recognized
LIMA – For the ninth consecutive time, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center was recognized with an ‘A’ grade in the fall Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing these hospitals’ achievements providing safer health care.
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns a grade A to F to general hospitals across the country based on more than thirty national performance measures reflecting the prevention of errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“It continues to be a challenging time in health care and throughout this, the team at St. Rita’s is once again recognized for providing the best and safest care in the country,” said Ronda Lehman, president, Mercy Health – Lima. “Receiving Leapfrog’s ‘A’ designation demonstrates a tenacious commitment to health care excellence by the physicians and staff. I want to recognize and thank the entire St. Rita’s team for once again bringing home an ‘A’.”
Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital, Mercy Health- Tiffin Hospital, Mercy Health - Defiance Hospital in Toledo and The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health and Mercy Health – Fairfield also earned A grades.

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade
uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are
free to the public.
