Botkins baseball drops 4th straight game
BOTKINS — The Trojan baseball team continued their losing
streak on Monday after falling to visiting Fort Loramie. The
Shelby County Athletic League matchup
between Botkins and Fort Loramie ended
the same way as the first, with the Redskins winning their second game against the Trojans this season in the 10-0 shortened run-ruled game.
This comes after a loss at Pandora-gilboa
Saturday where PG won 5-4 over the Trojans. Botkins fell in a close game late, after allowing the Rockets to score one run in the
sixth to take the 5-4 lead.
Botkins was unable to bounce back against Fort Loramie as the Redskins put up a big fourth inning to cement the lead for the
Redskins in Monday’s win over Botkins. Botkins manager Jason Jones spoke about the fourth inning following the game, “we played well for three
innings, then in the fourth inning we just
started throwing the ball around and got in our heads and got down ourselves,” said Jones. Adding “we
stopped being able to locate pitches, part of that was because of all the errors on defense he (Carson Motter) had to throw close to 40 pitches in that inning.”
Botkins struggled at the plate in the shut
out, Jones simply said “we didn’t hit all day,” when speaking about his team at the plate.
Botkins will now go on to play SCAL foe Fairlawn at home. The Trojans now 3-4 in
SCAL games will look to go back to even in league matches and pick up their 11th win
of the year after falling to 10-8 after the loss to the Redskins.
Jones and the Trojans hope to turn the season around as post-season play looms, Jones talked about how his team can do so, “getting
more consistent at the plate, we’ve had games where we’ve
scored 14, 19 and 24 runs on one occasion, we did it hitting the ball, we’ve got to get back to that, the first half of the season we were hitting the hell
out of the ball, since then we can’t seem to string hits together.”
In the current fourgame skid, Botkins has scored a combined
six runs and in two games the opposing team pitched shutouts
against the Trojans. In the first four games of
