St. Rita's nationally recognized with an 'A' Leapfrog grade
LIMA – For the 10th consecutive time, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center was recognized with an ‘A’ grade in the
spring Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing these hospitals’ achievements providing safer health care.
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns a grade A to F to general hospitals across the
country based on more than thirty national performance measures reflecting the prevention of errors, injuries, accidents, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“We’re extremely pleased that St. Rita’s is once again being recognized for providing the best care in the country,” said Ronda Lehman, president, Mercy Health – Lima. “Receiving this designation signifies our
commitment to quality healthcare. I’m so proud of and grateful for the hard working and dedicated staff who make it possible.”
Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital and Mercy Health - Defiance Hospital in Toledo
as well as both Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital and The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health in Cincinnati also earned A grades.
“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a tremendous achievement, of which this community
should be extremely proud,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I thank the leadership and workforce of Mercy Health - Lima for its commitment to prioritizing patients and their
safety, especially during these trying times.”
Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital
Safety Grade uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acutecare hospitals twice per year. The Hospital
Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
