⬛ DO YOU REMEMBER? Thirty nine years ago tomorrow, May 1, Wapakoneta and the Middlewest got out of bed and gazed upon an 18 inch snow. Travel and business as well as farming were all halted for two or three days

until the snow melted and work on the farms and in the gardens could be resumed. It was the deepest snowstorm that had visited this

section during the winter preceding.

⬛ Yankers out of town-this was a poor day for sufferers from toothache, if any. Local dentists were preparing for an early start on their trip to the north bank of the Grand Reservoir where they expected to hold an all day session, discussing the business of the Mercer-auglaize Dental society and fishing. Drs. Goetz, Hurlburt, Cannon, and Bob attended from this city.

⬛ When Garry Neal decided to open a restaurant in Wapakoneta, he had a very specific concept in mind. He wanted a place where

everybody would be warmly welcomed, from the upper-scale businessman to the farmer just

in from the fields. With the opening of Hugo Granny’s Café, 5 W. Auglaize Street, that concept has been realized. A native of Dayton, Neal recently moved to St. Marys and scoured that city for prime location for a restaurant. But

he couldn’t find a more appealing site than the Brunswick Restaurant in Wapakoneta. In the coming weeks, Neal plans to start a delivery service and hopes to offer his guests light musical entertainment.
