Steven L. Drexler

-

Steven L Drexler died on June 22, 2022

at Ford Motor Company.

Steve was born May 22, 1955 at St. Ritas Medical Center to Walter Drexler and

Elfriede (Ellen) (Brunnhuber) Drexler who predeceased him. He graduated in 1973 from St. Joe High

School in Wapakoneta after being homecoming king, and attended Ohio State Lima. On June 17, 1978

he married Deborah (Moots) Drexler. They

just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. She survives him.

Born to them and surviving are their children Adam Drexler (Dallas, Texas) and

Sydney Drexler (West Des Moines, Iowa). In 2015, Steve and Deb

adopted Alyssa Drexler (Columbus, OH)

and Colten Drexler (Toledo, OH) after living together for over three years. Steve always felt very blessed

and happy to have four children with each of them having a

sister and each having a brother. Also

surviving are siblings Gary (Debbie) Drexler (Kent, OH); Kevin (Shelly) Drexler (Elida,

OH) and John Drexler (West Chester, OH)

and sister-in-law Cheryl Drexler (Wapakoneta, OH).

Several nieces and nephews and their spouses also survive.

Steve and Deb enjoyed traveling and spent time in Europe with the majority of the time being spent in Germany, his

mother’s homeland. They enjoyed a Cayman Island cruise and trips to Canada. They traveled to 47

states with plans to visit Oregon, Hawaii, and Alaska soon.

Steve especially loved traveling with the

children on multiple trips to San Francisco, Thanksgiving trips to Chicago and spring breaks and holiday breaks to Florida.

Steve loved the Cleveland Browns,

his season pass, and always remained hopeful for next year.

Steve had a strong work ethic, loving his 49 years at Ford never

calling in sick. He was a humble person

but was proud that he was the #2 person in

seniority at the Lima Engine Plant. Two

times he was named Employee of the Month for his improvements in workplace safety simultaneously saving the company money. Though he took his work very seriously

he was well known for his sense of humor

and being a prankster. He loved pulling pranks on his coworkers and enjoyed the reciprocation!

Steve and Deb owned the Baskin Robbins store in the American Mall from 1979-2001. Steve loved the people and enjoyed his addiction to ice cream. He started Adam’s work ethic at a young age making

him sweep, mop and do odd jobs at the store before he could serve customers.

He especially enjoyed attending his children’s functions including all sporting

events, concerts, performances, theater,

band, choir, dance, and academic events. He enjoyed coaching

them T-ball and Little Indians basketball. He was a “pit crew

dad” for several years for the Shawnee Marching Band. He did whatever needed done for the band as “First Gentleman” when Deb was Booster president.

He loved to eat and especially enjoyed the many ways Deb

made chicken, her rum baked beans and pickled/deviled eggs.

He was an avid sports fanatic, excelling as a catcher in his younger years, while fishing and golfing his entire life. He enjoyed boating at Lake Erie on his boat Cash

Splash (the boat version of money pit).

He was proud of his children’s accomplishments, achievements, and accolades

but prouder of their character and the people they became as adults.

Besides his sense of humor, genuineness, and being humble, he was known to be kind

and caring and simply a nice guy. He

stopped to help people when they needed

it, was always doing for others, and would give” the shirt off his back” to you.

His legacy to his children and to the world is to always be kind, caring and keep

others smiling and laughing.

At Steve’s request there will be no public services or visitation. There will be a

celebration of his life with many stories and much laughter in a few months when his family’s hearts have healed a bit.

Godspeed Steve! We love you!
