Delphos-jefferson Cruises Through Lady Redskins

- By Trenton Hook For The Wapak Daily News

The Delphos-jefferson Lady Wildcats continued their dominant 12-game winning streak in the 22-23 season with a 58-22 thrashing of the Lady Redskins on Monday. Jefferson is now an incredible 17-1, with their only fall to the Bath Wildkittens in their fifth game. Wapakoneta falls to 2-17 on the season with the loss.

The unstoppable charge for Jefferson was led, as usual, by Lyv Lindeman, who averaged 19.3 points per game heading into the Lady Cats’ final home game. The junior put up 17 points in this outing, and hardly saw any time in the second half as Jefferson had a 37-8 lead heading into halftime. She was followed, as usual, by Lauren French, who put up 10 points and 8 rebounds in Monday’s game. French also didn’t see much time in the second half, as did Hannah Wiltsie and the rest of Jefferson’s starters. Wiltsie rounded out the top three of scoring with 7 points on the night. The team went an impressive 17/23 inside the arc, adding 7 threes on 16 attempts and 5 free throws on 8 attempts. The Lady Cats also added 18 total rebounds, 13 assists, 8 steals, and a block while only letting up 3 turnovers.

The Lady Redskins faltered early on offense, and could never quite get into rhythm throughout the game. Kierra Siefring found 7 points off of 2 inside makes and the team’s only three, leading the game for Wapakoneta. Elizabeth Good found 6 points inside on 8 attempts, and Maddison Springer found 4 points on 7 attempts inside to round out scoring. The team found 9 makes inside on 24 attempts, and Siefring’s lone three was out of 11 team attempts, with no free throw makes on 2 attempts. The Lady Skins did find 12 offensive and 8 defensive rebounds, with 3 assists, 2 steals, and a Reagan Courter block, but 8 total turnovers prevented the Skins from starting a streak of points on offense.

Delphos-jefferson looks to continue their win streak against Columbus Grove next Friday, the same day that Wapak is back in action against Celina.
