Earlier this week, Wapakoneta City Council met for regular business, including: ~ Report by the parks committee that the contract with the Wapakoneta Waterpark had been signed. ~ Report by the streets and alleys committee that

$1.5 million has been allocated for street and alley maintenanc­e and repair for the year. There was also mention of charging stations for electric vehicles. ~ Guest petitions and requests: A request that Council be aware of the 5K Walk/ Run sponsored by the “Run for Hope 5k run + Walk” which benefits Acacia of Hope's mission to empower the people of east Africa. The event is scheduled for April 22-23, 2023, 1301 Navajo Trail in Wapakoneta.

~ A request was presented by the Wapakoneta Recreation Board for a street closing for pedestrian safety for an April 29th event. The event is the first annual “Right Side of The Tracks

Block Party,” sponsored by businesses around 201 East Auglaize Street. Council granted the request.

~ A question was posed concerning funding for playground equipment for use in city parks. Council responded that this issue was covered in policy statements regarding Parks.

~ A resident spoke to Council regarding a problem with long-term parking in a residentia­l area related to a business in the area. Council is aware of the problem and has made contact with the individual responsibl­e. Council will monitor the situation and see that it is resolved.

The Council also considered Ordinance Resolution­s. Five resolution­s were adopted. Two ordinances were heard for their second reading and six ordinances were heard for the first reading.

In the Mayor's report, it was stated that some continued incidents of vandalism had been brought to the attention of the police with hope that the problem would be resolved.

The Safety and Service Director's report included progress being made on plans for a new water tower, bringing better service to the southeast area of the city.
