Virgil F. Kohler, 82

Virgil F. Kohler, 82, of Wapakoneta, died at 12:37 a.m., Wed. Feb. 8, 2023, at his home with his family at his side. He was born Dec. 15, 1940, in Lima, OH, the son of Virgil P. & Mary Catherine (Stinebaugh) Kohler, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 29, 1962, he married Ladonna J. Laman, and she survives.

Other survivors include 5 children, Lisa (Steve) Mellott, Wapakoneta, Cynthia (Ted) Newman, Rhine, OH, William (Kathy) Kohler, Wapakoneta, Timothy (Becky) Kohler, Anna, Lori (Don) Lowden, Wapakoneta; 12 grandchild­ren, David Mellott, Christophe­r (Stephanie) Mellott, Tiffany (Thomas) Brown, Jeremy (Karla) Newman, Jessica (Tony) Moeller, Dylan Newman, Dustin (Briawna) Kohler, Courtney Kohler, Andrew (Jessica) Lowden, Allison (Brandon) Steinke, Ryan (Brooke-fiancée) Lowden, Kayla (Shane) Straw; 15 great grandchild­ren; a sister-inlaw, Cheryl Kohler, Wapakoneta, brother-in-law and sister-in-inlaw, Bob & Marcia Laman, Wapakoneta.

In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by a brother, John Kohler, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joann (Henry) Bradshaw.

Virgil was a farmer and a carpenter, and had worked for R.F. Stolte Builders and Stinebaugh Constructi­on. He was also co-owner of the Home Improvemen­t Co. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council # 1272, both of Wapakoneta. Virgil was a 1958 graduate of St. Joseph High School, and a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau, National Rifle Associatio­n, American Motorcycle Associatio­n, and Gold Wing Road Riders Associatio­n. Along with his wife Ladonna, he enjoyed wintering in Haines City, FL. Virgil also enjoyed fishing, doing carpenter work, and loved spending time with his grandchild­ren & great grandchild­ren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Mon. Feb. 13, 2023, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Fr. Sean Wilson officiatin­g. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sun. and 9-10 a.m., Mon. at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory,
