Winter Sports Updates from Athletic Director Brad Rex

Girls Bowling

The girls bowling team captured a share of the WBL Title Friday with their WBL Tournament Championship! Bailey Van Meter led the Redskins with a 549 three game series (good for WBL Individual Runner-up), followed closely by Rylie Jeanneret- 520 (3rd Place Individual)! Both Bailey and Rylie garnered 1st Team WBL honors with Lydia Manger Honorable Mention. The team will begin tournament action February 23 at Community Lanes in Minster in the sectional.

Swimming

The swim teams began their state tournament trail Saturday, with many Redskins moving on to the District Meet to be held this week. Lizzy Sidener broke the school record with a 2:19.12 swim in the 200 IM! Lizzy qualified for the District Meet in both the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke. She will be joined by Katie Bauer (50 Free and 100 Butterfly), the 400 Free Relay team (Kya Sutton, Adyson Krouse, Lucia Rodriguez, Callie Sutton); 200 Free Relay team (C. Sutton, L. Sidener, Addison Wood, K. Bauer); and the 200 Medley Relay Team (K. Bauer, L. Sidener, K. Sutton, A. Wood). On the boys side, the team had a tremendous day as well, with the following Sectional Champions- Alex Honigford- 100 Free; 200 Medley Relay team (A. Honiford, Luke Wierwille, Owen Becker, Ross Honigford); 200 Free Relay team (A. Honigford, L. Wierwille, O. Becker, Gannon Casebolt); and the 400 Free Relay team (G. Casebolt, Julian Jordan, O. Becker, Aidan Schneider)! The team didn’t stop there as they will also be sending three swimmers in the 50 Free (A. Honigford, L. Wierwille, G. Casebolt), three in the 200 IM (J. Jordan, R. Honigford, A. Schneider), two in the

100 Free (G. Casebolt, J. Jordan), and the following in these events, L. Wierwille100 Butterfly, Isaiah Wachauf- 200 Free and 100 Backstroke, O. Becker- 100 Backstroke, R. Honigford- 100 Breaststroke, and A. Schneider- 100 Butterfly!

Wrestling

The wrestling team finished 2nd at the WBL tournament this weekend and 2nd in the WBL overall. Many of our wresters had a great tournament with Antwain Adams (138lbs), Wyatt Buell (150), Corbin Mitchell (157), and Jace Knous (190) finishing as WBL Champions in their respective weight classes! * Caden Mellott (113) and Gavin Ridenour

(132) were WBL Runners-up, while Jarrett Mullen (144) and Nate Buell (165) finished 3rd and Cater Shaner (106) placed 4th! The wrestler will compete in the sectional tournament February 25 at Defiance.

Boys Bowling

The boys bowling team also finished 2nd at the WBL tournament and 2nd in the WBL overall this season. At Thursday’s WBL tournament, Reiley Sevillano bowled a 592 three game series which was good for WBL Individual Runner-up! Lance Deffenbaugh finished 5th overall with Tyler Ferris- 11th and Caleb Huelskamp- 15th on the day. Reiley Sevillano captured 1st Team WBL honors, Lance Deffenbaugh- 2nd Team, Eli Van Meter and Caleb Huelskamp3rd Team and Tyler Ferris- Honorable Mention WBL. The sectional tournament will be held February 24 at Community Lanes in Minster.

Boys Basketball

The boys’ basketball team continued their hot streak by defeating Celina Friday night and Coldwater Saturday. The team has now won 7 of their last 8
