Bless Your Heart

- By Bethany Parsons

Hey y’all! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Bethany Parsons. As you may have guessed, my husband is Adam Parsons, the Regional Publisher of the Wapakoneta Daily News. I know a lot of you have been curious as to where I am, when I am heading north, or if I even really exist. To be perfectly honest, this is the best I can do for now since I am currently under contract with my job. Our daughter, Callie-ann, has also remained in Tennessee with me. I would be in trouble if I didn’t mention our amazing pup, Daisy Mae! She is the calm to our storm on a lot of days… that is, when she isn’t eating pillows.

I figured it was time to share with you a little about myself, as well as some new ideas that I have coming…just for you!

I was born and raised in the small, historical town of Rogersville, TN. I am blessed to still have 3 grandparents and my mother that continue to live here. I did move away for college and a couple of years when Adam and I were first married, but I always knew Rogersville was the place for my family. Fast forward a few years, and we were blessed with Miss Callie-ann. Callie-ann is in 5th grade and is extremely involved in the local 4-H, 4-H Honor Club, various softball teams, and many other activities. She definitely keeps us busy, but I am extremely proud of her outgoing personality. I taught Prek-12th special education for 13 years. I had the opportunity to go back school, and that’s what I did! I have degrees in Modified/comprehensive Special Education, Curriculum & Instruction, and Educational Psychology. In my current job, I am a therapist and facilitate in-home child and family therapy. I absolutely LOVE my job! Callie-ann and I do travel to Ohio on weekends that we aren’t running around for this or that, but it is never enough time to meet all the amazing people that Adam tells me about on a regular basis.

I wanted a way to be present in your lives without being physically in Wapak (I’ve been told I can’t say Wapakoneta). So…enter “Bless Your Heart”. I’m going to bring a little of my southern life to you every Saturday. Who knows what you’ll get! I feel like “Bless You Heart” is something that people from all walks of life will understand, and it honestly depends on how you say it as to how someone should perceive it. (Be looking for my first article… shhh).

Another idea that I have had that gets to happen on March 1st is “Keep Your Fork”. Every Wednesday, I have the pleasure of providing you with a special cooking article. I will have everything from basic southern specialities, to canning tips and tricks, to family hand-me downs that are holiday staples for our family.

I look forward to bringing a smile to your face as you begin your weekend and possibly providing you with a new favorite recipe to pass down for generations to come. And as always… well,

Bless your heart!
