Franklin M. Shaw, Jr., 93

Franklin M. Shaw, Jr, age 93 of rural Cridersvil­le, passed Sunday, February 26, 2023 at his residence. He was born June 6, 1929 in Perry Township, Allen County, Ohio to the late Franklin Monroe and Ethel Lorena Burgess Shaw, Sr. On June 16, 1951 he married Norma Jean Riemesch who passed December 29, 1999.

Frank was a lifetime farmer in Allen and Auglaize counties and was a graduate of Shawnee High

School. At an early age he began farming with his father and brother. He continued farming with his brother, his son, and grandson until he retired at the age of 80. He was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church, a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau, and a charter member of the Buckeye Farm

Antique Club.

Frank was also a school bus driver for many years. He was first employed for

Perry Schools and then Wapakoneta City Schools where he retired. He was very civic minded, serving on the Perry School Board, a member of the Perry Township Historical Society, the regional planning commission for Allen County, and served on the Perry Township Zoning Appeals Board.

Frank enjoyed farm shows, collecting toys, and Christmas santas. He will be remembered for being a hard worker and a devoted man.

Surviving is a son - Craig M. (Marilyn) Shaw; 4 grandchild­ren - Lynn (Bret) Bodine; Amy (Dan) Brearley; Erin (Josh) Montgomery; Jason (Hannah) Shaw; 9 great grandchild­ren - Madelyn Bodine,

Ben Smith, Logan Brearley, Sam Brearley, Max Montgomery, Molly Montgomery, Gracie Shaw, Emmett Shaw, Briggs Shaw; a step great grandchild - Gaige Gresham; a sister - Doris Hager; a sister-in-law - Andrea Kim Riemesch and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparen­ts - Lawrence E. and Minerva (Beeler) Shaw; his parents - Franklin M. and Ethel (Burgess) Shaw, Sr.; his wife - Norma Jean Riemesch Shaw; a daughter - Melanie J. Shaw; a brother - John E. Shaw; a brother-in-law Fred Hager; 2 sisters-in-law - Shirley (Ned) Rudy and

Jan (Dale) Young.

Funeral services will begin 6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersvil­le. Burial will be private in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 - 6:30 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributi­ons may be given to Johnny Appleseed Metropolit­an Park District or to 4-H Camp Palmer.
