Plans for the erection of a dwelling for Mrs. Michael Brown on Perry street, opposite the St. Joseph’s church, have changed, her son A.J. Brown said. Arrangements are now being made to start the construction of a duplex apartment. Ground for the building was purchased last fall from Harry Loth at the rear of the latter’s residence, following the sale of the Brown properties at the corner of Willipie and Main streets.

February 29 was a big day in the lives of Mrs. Mayme Zimmerman, South Pine Street, Wapakoneta; Mrs. E.H. Bassler, New Bremen; Mrs. Anna Brewer, New Bremen; and Benjamin Wierwille of Botkins, Route 1. They are three Auglaize county persons who celebrated birthdays on the extra February day this year. There probably are more that we haven’t heard about. Mrs. Zimmerman reports she was born in 1896 in Wapakoneta. She was a twin; her sister, Mrs. Minnie Vandevier, is deceased. Members of her immediate family are planning a potluck dinner in her honor. Mr. Wierwille is said to be in his 60s. He is a member of the county fair board.

Mrs. Anna Brewer celebrated her 16th birthday despite her claim to 68 years of life. She was guest of honor Sunday at a family dinner in the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Cunningham, 411 South Court street. Four of her six siblings live in Wapakoneta: Mrs. John Frische, Mrs. Fred Presar, Mrs. Charles Fleming, Sr., and Andrew.

It will be another 28 years until there is a February with five Sundays.

The 6th grade art classes have an attractive display of colored wall plaques, molded of clay and baked in the art teacher’s new electric kiln, and then painted in color. They are hanging on the lower hall wall. Flower designs were made by Connie Phillips, Norma Davis, Marilyn Reineke, Jim Katterhenry, and Carol Jean Lunz. Football patterns were finished by Bert Presar, David Stoll, Denny Singleton, and Tom Camper. Dog and cat molds were the work of Kathleen Wolfe, Sally Spear, Janice Tobias, Tom Wills, and Suzanne Fantz. Barbara Metzger’s was a plaque of the horse Man’o War. Rose Wrigley and Arnold Roop chose palm trees for their clay motifs. Mary Rausch and Susan Schierholt designed musical notes.
