Elmer Lee Burks, 73, of Prairie Grove, Ark., passed away Feb. 29, 2016, at his home. He was born March 6, 1942, in Hindsville, Ark., the son of William Jess and Cloe Redman Burks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Monroe Burks, Blanch Hill, Walter Burks, Lewis Burks, Margie Baker and Donald Burks; one grandson, J. J. Nixon; and one granddaugh­ter Brianna.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marlene Burks; one son, Kevin Burks and wife Janet of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven daughters, Marcresa Hattenhaue­r and husband Mark, Kimberly Rose and husband Dewayne, Maranda Burns and husband Jeff all of Prairie Grove, Tammy Darley of Odessa, Texas, Twyla Long and husband Jesse of Andrews, Texas, Mellenie Carr of Huntsville, Ark., and Vinecia Walker of Sparta, Mo.; one brother, Charles Burks and wife Jennifer of Stilwell, Okla.; two sisters, Marlene Stamps and husband Jerrel of Springdale, Ark., and Ruby Shepherd of Goshen, Ark.; 15 grandchild­ren, Anthony Hattenhaue­r, Chasidi Simpson and husband Cleatus, Damian Rose, Matheu Hattenhaue­r, Nicole Burks, Brycen Burks, John Dodson, Michael Dodson, Heather Madden, Tyler, Amber, Sami Jo, Todd, Josh and Kenneth; five great- grandchild­ren, Tukker Simpson, Stetson Franke, Alex, Trinity and Grace Madden; two honorary granddaugh­ters, Bailey Hanks and Tara Myers.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 5, 2016, at the Prairie Grove Cemetery Pavilion.
